[Review] 2nd Festival Banner (v. "4% rates!")

2020.10.11 21:26 xArceDuce [Review] 2nd Festival Banner (v. "4% rates!")

Guide Hub for xArceDuce
And with that, second part of the 30th SaGa Festival is out.
So I'll be talking a bit about a few stuff with the banner then talk about the buffs in general.
Apologies it took a long while. I did not expect them to combine banner and both buff the characters, so I ended up having to take a longer look while priority stuff in work and other games nagged at me.

TL;DR of banner: Emilia (SS), Peony (SS), Khalid (SS), Professor (SS), Fatima (S), Nora (S), Valdor (A) and Fatima (A)

The banner was surprising with a 1% rate per character. Especially with the buffs to Emelia. It is a pleasant surprise because seeing a orange explosion means you have a 80% chance to get a banner character from a 5% SS rate.
Still... Eh. I think Emelia is on the border of worth it or not worthwhile due to current circumstances.
On one side, you have one of the best gun DPS for a while, but this is offset by the fact that Professor and Khalid aren't really... great (I can find uses for Professor later, though, but it's highly offset by Onsen Ginny breathing down my neck).
Peony is currently one of the best Pierce DPS in the game so far, but that barely means much considering we will see Bow meta overtake her alongside Cordelia taking over as the Spear DPS later on.
This doesn't also talk about what we might do against the potential 3rd banner that might release. Since the Login event lasts a long while, there is a huge chance we might see a third event and banner. And this doesn't even cover what happens if we find a Global Exclusive banneevent.
If you are on the fence too in wanting Emelia or not, know when to fold 'em. Getting 15 multis for a character you are on the fence leaning towards "I'm more interested in stuff ahead" hurts. No way around it. Especially with how the 50% off banner is a single this time around. I generally prefer going hard on 3 50% off banners with dailies that have someone I can thoroughly use as a replacement for one of my teams.

Let's talk about: SS Emelia ("I will never forgive you!")

Level 50 Stats:
Stat Multiplier Level Bonus
STR 31% +5
END 54% +11
DEX 83% +17
AGI 75% +5
INT 42% +5
WIL 70% +5

Ricochet Shot 8(6) BP A-Power ST Attack (Strike)
Sweet Trap 14(11) BP SSS-Power ST ATtack (Strike/Pierce)
Passive Effect
Power Charge II At start of a battle, recover 2 BP (only once).
Fired Up IV 15% Damage boost at all times
Weakpoint Focus III 15% Damage boost if a advantageous attack lands ("Weak")
Emelia's buff by far is probably the strongest in terms of longevity for a character.
... However, as a buff for "now", her buff is second to School Festival Undine's. Why? Because Strike ST nukers aren't as necessary now compared to having even remotely one good spammable Cold AOE spell.
Don't get me wrong. Power Charge II opens a lot more then you think. Unlike Self-improvement, it just forwards you 2 BP, which just skips a 25% chance requirement twice for two turns. That's basically skipping a 6.25% chance requirement (though it loses value the longer you are fighting).
Sweet Trap is by far the strongest single attack nuke in the game so far. A easy to fulfill 30% damage requirement (not to mention: pierce/strike is very unique as you don't see it at all together like heat/cold from Jo) goes a long way. One good example? Pierce is resisted by Skeletons but Strike is efficient. So Strike takes the "-35" damage resistance value into the equation for Sweet Trap. This holds the same for many others. Beast is resistant to Strike but since Pierce resistance is 0, you have regular damage calculations. See where I'm going at here?
(Link to resistance charts: https://romasagatool.com/blog/archives/3169 , "突・陽の有効性")
Besides that, two Ricochet's at 6BP lose out compared to the ability of one Sweet Trap in 11BP. The issue is the turns you have to wait, but that says much about Amelia's nuking capabilities.
The only other variant released for Emelia is a platinum pool variant that only has a C-Power single target attack alongside a SS-Power Single target attack (Heavy Magnum Shot) that costs only 9BP. You could mix it up with Power Charge to utilize the 9BP attack and have 6BP to do an attack immediately after it.
With it, Emelia debuts with the infamous "6BP setup" capability for BP cycling.
You can set her up in two ways in AUTO:
One: Full AoE Sweep
  • Random Volley: 6BP
  • Ricochet Shot: 8BP
  • Sweet Trap: 14BP
Emelia will use Ricochet Shot as a starter (12 --> 4BP) then start using Random Volley constantly (4BP --> 7BP --> 1BP --> 4BP). This ensures a consistent pattern of AoE spam.
Two: The more practical: ST Nuke
  • Random Volley: 6BP
  • Ricochet Shot: 6BP
  • Sweet Trap: 11BP
Emelia should completely ignore Random Volley for Ricochet Shot at 6+BP, thus after Sweet Trap, she should go for Ricochet Shot constantly on AUTO.
On Manual, it depends if you are on a long drawn-out fight but Sweet Trap should be priority always (Especially if you are fighting a pierce-weak boss).
Overall, buffs are ridiculously better in keeping her able to stay in both a AUTO and manual team as Power Charge II is honestly a better passive then self-improvement. Yet, Akatsuki didn't go full blast as the Sweet Trap power number seems to not be changed (thank god, it was already strong enough). Bravo.

Let's talk about: SS Peony ("Spear of Punishment!")

Stat Multiplier Level Bonus
STR 88% +15

AGI 85% +13

Passive Effect
Fighting Spirit II (STR) 25% chance to boost STR by 20% when attack lands
Self-Improvement 25% chance to recover 1BP when landing attack
Fired Up IV 15% Damage boost at all times
Double Trick is a staple for Peony on her debut, as the skill increases her STR by 5% little by little. Granted, it's a 6BP skill meaning she will end up using it more often then other skills. As of now, Peony is probably the strongest Pierce character in the game.
The problem? Christmas Monica was the strongest Pierce character on her debut. Then it is Peony. Then we're gonna see Summer Selma then 2019 Award Monica. However, that doesn't mean Peony is outmatched entirely. She has actually one fair advantage: she scales with STR. DEX equips are a pain to find compared to STR. Especially since DEX equips usually involve Leather Armor, which is not ideal compared to the full plate or breastplate armors that STR characters can have. This includes the later Hydra gauntlets with 3STR or the easier to access 3STR accessories.
Her biggest problem is outlined easily: No 6BP AoE. Bows later become the best weapon for Pierce after 2019 Festival/1Y Anniversary due to how Claudia and Sara carry an insane 6BP shifting capability like Emelia in AUTO with Random Arrows or Thousand Arrows.
Peony still doubles down on ST nuking with her Valentine Day's Year 2 variant having a "Double Crash" attack for Pierce (2 multi-hit attack at A-Power for 13-10BP).
Every SS Variant has been very solid for Peony (though Cordelia takes over as the most versatile Spear user in year 2), so don't be afraid of her style going out of style.

Let's talk about: SS Khalid/Harid ("Stop chasing false hopes.")

Stat Multiplier Level Bonus
STR 63% +12
END 86% +16
DEX 40% +5
AGI 46% +5
INT 29% +5

Demilune Medium Damage Mitigation + any direct hit will counter with a D-Power ST Attack (Lightning/Slash)
Passive Effect
Draining Attack III 25% chance to recover HP (power 15) when landing attack
Ironwall Defense III 10% Damage Mitigation at all times
Self-Improvement 25% chance to recover 1BP when landing attack
Harid... Ugh. Let's talk about him here and now.
Harid has two award festival variants. He also has a SS variant in platinum pool. The problem? He has always got the short end of the stick.
This variant's strategy is to use Tempest Moon turn 1 then use Brusque Slice every turn after on AUTO. However, the problem appears in that he does not have any Aggro control inherently alongside a reliance on being hit by a direct attack and surviving. He has a 86% END and Ironwall, so he can survive physical attacks easily. The problem then, however, becomes two other problems: AGI and STR.
(Edit: Whoops, forgot to replace this part. Fixed)
Tempest Moon's damage on the D-power ST attack is very low thanks to his 63% STR multiplier and no Fired Up passives. Brusque Slice is great as Aggro increase but Aggro increase seems to not effect RNG as much as tested. Ironwall and the Medium Damage Mitigation should add to around 25-30%, so the damage reduction with the END is still noticeable.
Counterstance from skills last one turn. Thanks to the [Fast] attribute, Harid can get into the damage mitigation stance as fast as possible. Due to this, he is able to at least ignore one major part of his flaws.
Due to this, his BP cycling for manual fight should be the following:
  • Brusque Slice: 3-4
  • Mirage Blade: 8-10
  • Tempest Moon: 10
With your rotation being:
  • Turn 1: Tempest Moon
  • Turn 2-5: Normal Attack (depends on self-improvement, which is hoping to get a 25% chance proc for 1BP)
  • Turn 5-6: Tempest moon
It's clunky, which is generally the biggest problem compared to what Parry does. In an ideal situation where you direct counter like 9 attacks, you're averaging at a 2BP gain and expecting to survive the beating. Sadly, Harid cannot utilize the lightning attribute that well to this date due to how he has way too much of a single target focus. Madeleine takes over after Spring Festival with Rocbouquet after 30th SaGa Prefecture due to how both girls can utilize Lightning AoE's and ST skills (Madeleine has Lonely Moon and Demilune while Rocbouquet has Thunderclouds and Thunderclap).
Another note: I cannot say if the Demilune always is going to be a rank 0 Demilune or if it takes the Demilune rank from S Harid. If it does take the rank of Demilune from Harid instead of just applying 0 Demilune like other chaser skills, then it is paramount you rank up Demilune as much as possible if you want to use this Harid. I cannot stress this enough due to how this Harid variant needs all the help he can get to fully be a good countertank (if you want a good example of a countertank, look at HumanM)
His release variant is mediocre in a time for Slash attackers to become obsolete, his Award variant is a v0.5 counter defender and his second Award variant gets overshadowed by Madeleine and Byun'ei.

Let's talk about: SS Professor ("My new invention!")

Stat Multiplier Level Bonus
STR 42% +5
END 40% +5

Pop'n★Cracker 14(11) BP B-Power AoE Ranged Attack (Strike) Inflict: Confuse (Med. chance)
Passive Effect
Fighting Spirit II (DEX) 25% chance to boost DEX by 20% when attack lands
Enervate III (INT) 25% chance to reduce INT by 15% when attack lands
Enervate III (WIL) 25% chance to reduce WIL by 15% when attack lands
The biggest change basically reinforces Professor's Jammer capabilities by changing her "Reduce damage taken when HP is full" to Enervate WIL. Granted, since this is INT/WIL, this has some uses for ailment landing alongside decreasing magical damage taken in general.
Due to this, you would think Professor is best on a mage team as support. But the general problem is that she does not have any INT/WIL debuffs in her skills as a rotation.
Comparing SS Professor to SS Onsen Ginny as INT Strike debuffer... Ginny has a 2BP 5% INT debuff every turn alongside Enervate III (INT). With it, she has Hardy Defense III and Fired Up IV. Hardy Defense III is definitely a dead slot but Fired Up IV and a better STR multiplier of 88% does help round out her damage capabilities.
Unlike Professor, Ginny can also start out with a SS ST attack right at the start thanks to inheritance.
Due to how Emelia is just better in DPS... Then the value of Professor goes with the prospect of WIL debuff.
Overall, WIL is not really the top priority when it comes to debuffs in Romancing difficulty. If anything, STINT/AGI tends to be the big three due to how they can inherently change how your sustain approach should be. Due to this, the Enervate WIL just ends up being a detail instead of a foundation.
Do I think Professor is worth it? Not really. I generally think she's long overdue for a SS Style (though I'm expecting one soon, maybe 2Y Anniversary in JP), but if you get her alongside Emelia... Hey, free Firearms Mastery EXP. Nothing to really be mad about. Especially since you will need Firearms Mastery EXP for HumanM and Dad later.

Welfares are pretty much nothing

  • Both Fatima's don't bring anything much to the table. S-rank probably can give the later SS variant a 2BP ST sleep, which would be helpful if it wasn't for the fact the SS variant of Fatima doesn't have great INT.
  • Nora doesn't get a SS style until the RS3 Celebration banner, but even then this S style doesn't give anything much of note.
  • Valdo's A style can be used as a free "KO me to stun enemies" style, though this doesn't really help as it is always better to bring a DPS to help with BP cycling.

Conclusion:

This banner is the case of "it's great if you plan on playing constantly and optimizing", but "it's awful if you plan on just waiting a while for later stuff".
Again, pay it forward. It's a 4% banner rate with 2% being hits (Emelia/Peony) while the other 2% banner being sorta a miss (ProfessoHarid). At the same time, Emelia takes priority due to how 1-turn SSS nukers are much harder to find then how Peony would get overshadowed by Claudia, Sara and Cordelia later on.
Personally, I wouldn't really pull since festival banners tend to be three parts. I would wait to see what they have in store on the 3rd week (whether it's a seasonal banner or a 30th SaGa anniversary "Global Exclusive/First Premiere" banner).
Still, unlike T-260G, Emelia is pretty much the real deal when it comes to finding a good Strike DPS to slot in.
Up to preference.

2020.09.01 06:24 xArceDuce [Review] White Day Banner

Guide Hub for xArceDuce
Well, seems like we are in full swing of banner releases, as we got hot dropped the White Day banner today. With that, it is around the time I get started with the banner review.
Not like I definitely wasn't procrastinating trying to get my 2nd SS weapon from the JP SaGa event... Oh who am I kidding.
Regardless, let's begin.

TL;DR of Banner:

100% a skip.
One of the biggest patterns you see here is the fact that Akatsuki got REALLY scared from the aftermath from JP's White Rose release and decided to try to pace releases to try to test the waters of what people will want in the game in terms of extent of efficiency and other merits on a character.
This means two things:
  • There are sometimes good characters like 0.5 Anniversary Asellus, Selma, Vampire Girl and Emilia.
  • But there are also pretty awful characters who still, to this date, do not have good enough kits to really stand out amongst their competition in their attributes (Harid/Khalid is a big example).
White Day Banner SS characters falls into the category 2 for examples I'll list below.

Banner: White Day Asellus (SS), White Day Last Emperor (SS), White Day Neidhart (S) and White Day Julian (A) with White Day Wil (S) as welfare

SS Last Emperor is basically a prototype of cover tanking

White Day Last Emperor comes in with a defender with the following:
Level 50 Stats:
Stat Multiplier Level Bonus
STR 70% +13
END 84% +15
DEX 58% +5
AGI 80% +5
INT 39% +5
WIL 40% +5
LOV 36% +5
CHA 63% +5
Skill Effect
Running Slash 4(3) BP D-Power Single Target Slash Skill
Empty Blade 8(6) BP B-Power Single Target Slash Skill
Brilliant Flash 13(10) BP A-Power Row Slash Skill
Passive Effect
Iron Wall Protection III 10% Mitigation to all damage
Self-regeneration III 25% chance to heal self (10-power)
Active Dedication 10% Chance to cover
Last Emperor has very solid END and AGI multipliers and base bonus alongside decent STR multipliers. The base bonus leans towards him being someone who takes direct physical damage, so it is best to place him in a high-aggro spot for physical enemies. Personally, I would have liked the AGI stat multipliers get shifted to WIL to help him out a bit more, but that's just personal preference.
In terms of skills, he... doesn't really have anything notable. It's best to just inherit Flowing Slash from SS Last Emperor from the Platinum Banner (skill 2).
Now that we got that out of the way: You immediately see the problem with some parts of his kit.
For the first, a row skill for 10BP as a starter for A-Power. Ugh. I'll cover why Row skills are much less favorable compared to Column skills and why it's "full Area of Effect or bust" later on.
For the second part, like I said: His skills are entirely without any effects. If you do pull Last Emperor and have both his styles, you can inherit skill two from the platinum pool style. That's generally the most he is going to do as your only choices are a 6BP B-Power move every 2 turns (skill 2) or a 5BP C-Power move that debuffs STR.
But the worst part is: He has a 10% chance to cover. That's a VERY low chance in general, which is pretty bad in itself as a dead slot.
Don't get me wrong, covering is amazing as a mechanic:
Cover-tanking explained:
Cover works like this:
  1. Someone gets attacked
  2. Last Emperor guards them
  3. Last Emperor cancels any damage that would come his way and takes the hit for the person.
This is exceptionally good in AOE spamming bosses as you just nullify one hit of the two hits Last Emperor should be taking... But the problem for White Day Last Emperor is that his passive is extremely inconsistent due to its extremely low chance.
This doesn't really also cover how extreme the mitigation from Iron Wall Protection III -> IV is. Iron Wall Protection III gives 10% Mitigation but Iron Wall Protection IV gives 25% Mitigation instead. Later on, you will see people who have either a better defensive buff kit or better damage potential while sporting Iron Wall Protection IV (Bear's newest welfare style in JP sports level IV Iron Wall), which doesn't help much in Last Emperor's case.
For reference: Fired Up IV --> V is a difference of 15% --> 20% (they finally proved it). That's a difference in 5% damage.
Meanwhile Iron Wall Protection from III to IV is freaking 15% of mitigation. To say IV is important is an understatement.
So in conclusion: White Day Last Emperor is basically a prototype of defender archetypes later down the line, where you will see much more weighted mitigation multipliers due to how Akatsuki realizes that 10% mitigation or small amounts don't cut it enough for a passive kit for a seasonal or festival-category tank.

SS Asellus has an even worse kit in general

Level 50 Stats:
Stat Multiplier Level Bonus
STR 75% +14
END 44% +14
DEX 57% +5
AGI 75% +5
INT 50% +5
WIL 53% +5
LOV 24% +5
CHA 58% +5
Skill Effect
Knee Split 3(2) BP D-Power Single Target (Slash) Skill (Small chance to cause Stun)
Blooming Rose 9(7) BP C-Power Column Range (Slash) Skill
Rising Nova 13(10) BP S-Power Single Target (Slash/Heat) Skill
Passive Effect
Hardy Defense III When at 100% HP, the next attack taken will be mitigated by 20%
Tension Up III 10% damage boost at all times
Self-Improvement When landing an attack, 25% chance to recover 1BP
In terms of skills, Asellus's viable skills are skill 1 and skill 3. Blooming Rose ends up being a 3-turn skill with its 7BP cost and ends up being considered one of the worst skills in the entire game due to how it's a very high BP cost for a C-Power damage output. They later released the Skill Enhancement system to compensate by adding one letter grade to the skill if you spend resources and 30 Rank, but it's not even enough with B-Power at that point of JP to be considered for usage.
Even then, Knee Split ends up taking Full-Power AUTO BP constantly from its 2/3BP cost. You really end up with a very mediocre kit of constantly using a D-Power skill with stun that never procs from awful INT to build up +1BP cost for a C-Power Column skill that really just doesn't do anything.
If Rising Nova was 9BP, you could set it up so that Asellus turns into a Full-power AUTO mode Single-Target nuker with Knee Split into Rising Nova but you will always end up using Blooming Rose in the end (the only way is to hope Self-Improvement procs during your last turn before 9BP is built in AUTO).
Talk about Row/Column skills in general
I'm going to be brutally honest: I don't like Row attacks at all.
Row range works like this if you target front:
[X][X][X]
[O][O][O]
[O][O][X]
It always hits two below or sometimes ends up convoluted like this if you target center:
[X][X][O]
[O][O][O]
[O][X][X]
But the main problem is that rarely you run into enemies bunched up in a row nicely for you to just cleave all at once. If anything, you tend to find more column aligned enemies more and more as you progress through the game.
However, that doesn't even cover the main issue in general with it also: It's a half-measure for half-baked power. You either can pace an entire fight with a group of mobs with AOE's and generally be able to take measure of their HP, but if you use a row-skills, you just end up hitting half the enemies for a mediocre rise of power. This doesn't even cover how much your damage gets gipped when your auto uses Row or Column skills constantly against bosses, which is why I advocate that you always have a 4BP/6BP skillset of one AOE and one ST nuke when fully awakened, so you can adjust BP costs for each situation.
The less people you attack, the less value your Row/Column skill has. Against 2 monsters who are able to be hit by column attacks in one round, wouldn't it be better just to single target nuke one down so that you won't get plastered by both?
Granted, Row and Column skills have gained much more reputation after Battle Island due to its nature of needing to efficiently utilize your BP to the maximum. You get 16BP to finish 3 rounds of mobs. Utilizing a Row skill with C-Power instead of a full AOE skill with D-Power to flush out a row of enemies in that mode is more efficient... But you end up running into the problem of generally having to awaken and have a swiss-army knife kit of a roster.
In terms of passives, Tension Up III to Tension Up IV is still a 5% damage difference, but that 5% difference still is something that would help Asellus a lot compared to the incoming 85-90% STR Multiplier characters who carry Tension Up IV. Hardy Defense in general also is almost a wasted slot in general due to how the only usage for it is surviving attacks after being revived by White Rose Princess back to full HP. But that loses efficiency when Asellus lacks END/WIL to really survive hits after Hardy Defense is gone.
Overall, White Day Asellus ends up being really a subpar style even by Global standards, where Katarina or even Hector can be a much better choice overall. This overall explains why she got such a strong style a few months later in form of her Half-Year Anniversary Style.

S/A-rank style talk:

S-rank Neidhart. Very solid STDEX/AGI rate up for stat grinding, but the general problem is that Neidhart doesn't start getting good until the 3rd Anniversary or the UDx banner with Mirza. So you are going to have to hold onto this guy for a long while. Not much can be said about him for now.
A-rank Julian. Good to build AGI, which is good because if you plan on running Stun-oriented Julian now or the Cover-tank Julian later, you will need good enough AGI to outpace bosses to get your 3BP Self-mitigation buff or Stuns off early before they can act. Still isn't a deal-breaker, though.
S-rank Wil. Welfare. Wil comes with Bonebreaker, which is always a good thing to have alongside Gong, a 9BP turn-1 SS Power starter you can use. Wil won't get a good style until his older grandpa version gets his Christmas Year 2 variant, but the platinum pool variant works well enough if you need someone with STR debuffs alongside Sofia. Still isn't out there but hey, free mastery EXP for Maul/Maces.

Conclusion:

Generally a sorta disappointing banner but really can't blame JP developers when most of the JP playerbase yelled at them for powercreeping the healer role so hard with White Rose Princess.
Overall, the White Day characters have been just... generally considered pretty mediocre in general. Better then a few SS Styles but not really out there in terms of standing out. Summer reflects on how they try to get adventurous in SS Style passive and skill selections but you won't start seeing major confidence in skill and passive selection here.
As said, up to you always. But personally, despite I pulled for White Day Asellus, I never even ended up using her until I pulled her 0.5 Anniversary variant in a rerun banner later due to how I had so many better options later on like 2019 Award Ellen or Battle of Buckethill Gustave.
As always, thanks for reading.

2020.08.28 09:34 Kimione509 Any Good Shojo Manga post 2015 ish?

Like any good shojo fan, I tended to devour tons of shojo manga back in its peak days. You know, when Vampire Knight, Dengeki Daisy, Maid Sama were all the rage?
I feel I've more or less read all the popular or critically well acclaimed ones,( the underrated gems that scored high on Baka updates). But then I lost touch and was pretty much out of the loop for a long time. What are some good upcoming shojo manga that has the potential to continue the legacy? A good storyline, great cast, excellent supporting characters and some good slice of life elements?
I would prefer to avoid the Isekai/ Historical Fantasies that's all the rage now. Series I've tried - Our Precious Conversation (cause it's Robico!) - Omoi, omoware fure furare (dropped. Her previous work was better) - Takana no hana, Mizutama honey boy (alright. Rather episodic) - Tendou ke monogatari (grew to love this one) - You got me, senpai (surprisingly refreshing dynamics) - Queen's Quality (probably her best work till date)
Old time Favourites - Oboreru Knife, Sand Chronicles, Piece, Dengeki Daisy, Last game, Six half, Shinobi life, Fruits Basket, Akatsuki no yona..
Thanks in advance!
Just a side thought - Am I the only one who tends to enjoy Manga more than Webtoons? Hmm..
EDIT :- Whoa! Thanks Everyone!💕

2020.07.12 07:38 Shuden DBZ Dokkan Battle Review?/Essay?/Love Letter?/Diatribe?/Hate Mail?[WHY DID I WRITE THIS] - Just shoot me, mister Farmer with a Shotgun.

Okay, obviously this game is a meme around here, no one takes it seriously, it's clearly only famous because of the DB franchise, yada yada. But I've seen it half a dozen times in this sub people expressing positive feelings not torwards the game as a collection game, but by praising it's uhhh... "gameplay mechanics", "depth" and "balance". What...
I don't even know where to begin... guys, Dokkan has been a dumpsterfire from the start, it was never a good "game". Trust me, I've been playing it since day zero. I'd know, lol.
Okay, I needed to start out with a little venting, but I don't want this to get too ranty or too long, so let me grab my review pants and do this properly.
[EDIT: Future Shuden is here to warn you it will get ranty and incredibly long anyways]

Part 1: Keeping It Civil.

DBZ Dokkan Battle was released in January 2015, the tenth (woah...) official Dragon Ball game released in Japan for mobile, the first for ios/android and also the first to be ported to global around July 2015, riding the wave of Dragon Ball Supers anime succesful release in June 2015.

Main Features:

  • Puzzle/bubble popping gameplay with a board-game like movement between fights.
  • Collection-based progression with strategic team building elements.
  • Simplistic presentation and easy to get into.
  • Original Story mode, and the classic Dragon Ball storyline featured across multiple events.
  • Stamina gates progression.
  • Main ways to get gacha currency: Main campaign, log in rewards, new player friendly events, late game events.

Strong Points:

  • Collection game: fans of the DB franchise will have a blast collecting almost every character in this huge series. (where the fuck is my boy Dr Wheelo?)
  • Low spec requirement: the game is light and plays smoothly on pretty much any budget system. Optimization updates over the years have been amazing.
  • Stunning animations: Old cards, particularly the lower rarity ones, have lame and awful visuals, but everything released after 2018 has been incredible, with some examples arguably outshining the original source (don't @ me).
  • Guaranteed SSR, spark system, step ups during celebrations. Pretty generous summon cadence, expect a multi summon or two every week, more on special celebrations.

Neutral Points

  • It's an old ass game, there are TON of content for new players to catch up, and the stamina system does not allow for a binge play. So get ready for a marathon.
  • While the majority of Cards are always obtainable, there are a handful of old event Cards that aren't. These Cards are generally so old they're useless but it's worth mentioning since this is a...
  • Collection game. If you don't care about collecting or about Dragon Ball, you'll probably not have a good time.
  • High SSR rates, low on-banner rate. This is partially remedied by multiple features. But yeah, this is not a good game for people that hate crap/off banner in their pulls.
  • Simple gameplay: I can't stress this enough. Cards have only three visible stats, a handfull of invisible ones and that's it. 95% of the game can be cleared in under 4 turns with casual end game set ups, and the other 5% are more annoying than hard.
  • Lots of F2P Cards. The newer ones are usually fairly useable, but on top of the older cards being complete crap, all these non gacha Cards have considerably lower base stats compared to regular stuff and they get pushed away very fast.
  • Cycling balance: Old cards get tweaks and remakes from time to time, Bandai is always making up a new progression system to make old Cards relevant again, but there are very few that manage to compete against the new stuff. Some people would consider this a strong point, but for a game as old as Dokkan, I don't believe there's even an option to not do this and stay competitive in the market.

Weak Points:

  • Gacha. Yeah, I know, gacha is somehow in good, neutral and weak at the same time. It's true, though. While the rates for SSRs and featured SSRs are pretty decent for modern gachas, and the banners overall offer great alternatives and options even if you don't get the shiny new thing, the rates for LRs, the actual strongest Cards in the game, is abysmal, and they're also in rare celebration banners or in terrible banners where you either get lucky or you get shit. Pulling for LRs in Dokkan as a F2P can be an incredibly frustrating experience, as these gachas are designed to bait heavy spenders.
  • Dated game modes: Some stuff is just old and were never updated, like Strike events, some were never even good in the first place and are just used to torture players, like World Tournament. These tabs and events definitely take their space in the screen and make everything feel way too clogged. The Dokkan Event tab during celebrations is specially horrifying.
  • The "original" story is not original and not a story. It's just some random events with terrible dialogue and I've never known anyone that even knows whats going on, so I'm 100% certain and have empirical evidence that in fact zero people have read it, and I'm not even sure if it actually exists or I'm just hallucinating.

Part 2: The Gameplay Rant

Half the time I see someone defending Dokkans gameplay, they're just smugly saying "nah bro you think it's simple because you're actually a noob, endgame content is really deep yo" without actually making any argument. No, it's not deep, not even the "hardest" content.
There are only four game modes in Dokkan that could ever be considered "hard", I'll debunk each of them one by one here, going from "easiest" to arguably "hardest".

Extreme Z Battle

This one is a glorified tower-mode with 30 floors (after 30 there are no more exclusive rewards) where you fight an ever harder battle. The only hard part here is that the selection of units effective against the enemies is very small, usually around a dozen, and if you don't have enough cards to form a team, you'll need to either pull or use weaker units that will definitely drag you down. With the proper full team, all of the stages can be blitzed through in 2-3 turns. There's not even any strategy since the game limits you enough that you don't even need to think, just pick the strongest stuff you can bring and hope it works.
TL;DR: The only hard part here is getting your credit card and pulling the required units.

Infinite Dragon Ball Mode/Legendary Goku

Same as above, but instead of fighting 30+ battles that get progressively harder, it's only one single and very long battle. These stages feature the single strongest enemies in the game near the end, but they're all easily cheeseable with a few stacking DEF cards, at the end your DEF will be so high you'll take no damage no matter how strong the enemy is. Haha Three stat game system go BRRRR. My DEF go big I win haha.
To circunvent this, Dokkan released challenge missions that force card limitations as conditions, meaning you either have the cards to make through the limiting conditions, or you pull until you have them.
TL;DR: The only hard part here is getting your credit card and pulling the required units.

Super Battle Road

Ah, the Dark Souls of Dokkan Battle. In this mode, you pick a "course" that limits your character pool, and run through a gauntlet of 3 or 4 battles with ultra powerful enemies that can potentially one shot even well prepared players. In general: The 4 battle courses are too easy because the limitations are very light, and the 3 battle stages are too hard because the limitations are rough. Again, the hard part of these stages is not the fight themselves, but whether you have the required units or not, this mode is just slighly more flexible and some otherwise weak units are more powerful here.

B-b-but muh OPTIMAL Rotation/Links mechanics, muh Item timing mechanics!

Seriously? Rotations are completely random when you enter the stage, and it can take up to 3 turns to fix them if you know what you're going. Remember when I said that 95% of the game takes less than 4 turns to be over? Yeeeah... Bandai knows this, it actively chooses to keep it random and not balance anything around this mechanic because they deem it's too difficult for a bubble popping collection game, which is what Dokkan is. Reminder that Akatsuki does the balancing, but Bandai are the ones actually making decisions.
Fun trivia: The word "optimal" is soft banned from the main dokkan reddit because there was a time half the sub thought it meant "the only CORRECT way to play" while the other half was sighting to no end about these weird dudes overthinking a bubble popping game. Nowadays they use APTimal (Actions Per Turn) and somehow believe it means a different thing. Don't ask me, I have no idea what's going on in there.
Dokkan players give rotations so much more credit than they are worth, because they're essentially the only variable a player can actually interfere in a game so simple, but the truth is completing an event in 3 turns because you did the optimal rotation and did 20 damage each turn versus completing an event in 4 turns because you're a toddler that's randomly tapping the screen and doing 12 damage each turn makes zero diference in the actual game.
And items in Dokkan are the most straightforward possible system to exist. Low on health? Heal up, increase DEF, increase DMG reduction, Debuff enemies. If you're fighting a strong guy, use DEF and Debuff preemptively. That's it, the DARK SOULS OF DOKKAN.
None of this is hard nor complex. Any other game in the store has more complexity than Dokkan, the only thing hard about Dokkan is figuring out the spagetthi damage formula to throw in a google docs to jerk the new cards on reddit or discord. Damage calculations are irrelevant in the actual game, if they were anywhere near important, Dokkan would care to actually show each enemys health points instead of a vague color bar.
The only thing you have to think about in Dokkan is the strategic Team Building, and that is completely gimped by game modes that limit your pool of available characters, but also due to how gacha works. A player that studies each of their Cards most optimal set ups and build a completely optimized team will see only a marginal improvement over a player that just takes his 6 newest and strongest Cards in a team, as long as they are following basic rules like keeping the cards in their right categories. This is not deep, guys...
You know what makes a HUGE difference while team building, a gazillion times more than game knowledge? How many time$ you've pulled in the last couple month$.

Part 3: Simple is not a Sin

Dokkan does it's thing well, I really believe it's a good game. You collect cards, you upgrade cards, build thematic teams and duke it out with the AI. It's pretty cool. It doesn't need to be hard or deep or whatever, man, don't be ashamed to like a game for what it is.
But if you like hard, there are like a huge amount of community challenges you can do, or you can go crazy like the google docs boys and compete to get the highest possible damage per turn and other wacky things. You can pick your favorite Dragon Ball cards and play with them however you like. THIS is what Dokkan is about. Go wild!
Just please don't pretend Dokkan is something it isn't. Okay? Thank you for reading.
See ya in the next WT suffering scoreboard.

2020.07.11 01:50 Sephyrias Character Overviews (for those without guides/primer)?

This video helped me back when I first got into the game last year, not only to pick my first character, but also to check on whether or not there are enough characters that interest me to justify buying the game.
It was already kind of outdated by then, but even more so now. I want to try and make a new "Character Overview" video for all 53 characters now, but need some help, since I obviously don't know all 53 characters in-depth. I gathered a whole bunch of the Discord's resources in the sticky thread already, but many characters just straight up don't have any (up-to-date) primer. Asking all the respective channels on discord ain't a possibility, the mods don't like it when you are too active in them simultaneously. I'm also aware of the Dustloop pages, but they tend to be pretty inaccurate when it comes to evaluating character strengths/weaknesses, etc.
The characters in question are:
Ragna, Tager, Nu-13, Makoto, Es, Platinum, Jubei, Hakumen, Celica A. Mercury, Susanoo, Kanji Tatsumi, Mitsuru Kirijo, Akihiko Sanada, Labrys, Tohru Adachi, Hyde, Linne, Waldstein, Carmine, Yuzuriha, Seth, Akatsuki
I can probably handle the explanation for Es, Susanoo, Adachi and Yuzuriha myself, since I play those characters, but collecting other people's takes would help.

2020.05.15 01:56 TimesJay A (Not Very Quick) Guide to Azur Lane Ship-girls in the Kaiserreich Universe

On a post from a few days ago of artwork imagining Queen Elizabeth as a Siren (source for the original picture; the specific post I’m talking about was ultimately removed for unrelated reasons), I talked with u/Alphaeon_28 and eventually u/Neither-Monk on the ship-girls currently in Azur Lane and their alternate history selves in the Kaiserreich universe. Kaiserreich is an alternate history universe in which Germany won World War I, based in the game series Hearts of Iron (specifically a community-made mod for the game, as the game itself is based on our timeline’s World War II). The discussion itself stemmed from another post about the fate of the Royal Navy when a lore-based revolution occurred in Great Britain.
In this post, I aim to archive every ship relevant to Azur Lane that exists in the Kaiserreich universe (or at least the names of every one I could possibly find; it is next to impossible to figure out anyone that’s been renamed) and their situation in 1936 (except the Eagle Union ships, which will be sorted by which faction of the 2nd American Civil War they side with in 1937), providing details about what brought them into their current forms and any changes that have been made to them. This post will be as accurate as I can get according to data collected from a playthrough of Kaiserreich on May 14th, 2020 and, well, Wikipedia. Of course, Kaiserreich decided to have an update just a few days ago that completely revamped the navies and forced me to redo most of the information I’d already collected but I assure you, I am 100% sane ~~\eye twitch*~~*
I don’t think this counts as fanfiction. This is simply an attempt at documenting information based on sources from the Kaiserreich lore and in-game information, stating the differences with our timeline rather than writing stories about their actions. Of course, anyone who wants to write Kaiserreich fanfic (in their own posts) is welcome. I have no agency over that; it’s not like I am part of the Kaiserreich dev team. Additionally, while political ideologies will be mentioned, they are simply for the sake of contextualizing the timeline and which sides the ships take; I do not wish to bring alternate history politics into a subreddit about anthropomorphic warships.
Note that these ship classifications are not strictly what they say in-game; Kaiserreich uses a weird assortment of ship types compared to the base version of HOI4 and also decided that all WW1 battleships are actually battlecruisers. Dreadnoughts are basically super battleships and there are at least four different types of cruisers. Either way, it’s clear that the naval system is meant to not be overly complex so things like ship profile changes can be ignored since many ships share ingame profile/design icons.

Eagle Union (United States)
I’ll start with the United States because its situation is much more convoluted compared to the rest. The United States opted not to join the Weltkrieg (German for the Great War or World War I) due to Germany falling back on their submarine doctrine and thus suffered when German dominance of the European economy and politics took influence over world trade. When Britain suffered Syndicalist (think Communist but instead of a dictatorship, power comes from the trade unions) uprisings and eventually a full-scale revolution, the American economy suffered dearly and all but collapsed, leading to the Great Depression in 1925, four years earlier than our timeline. As such, most major shipbuilding projects ceased and the USN fell beyond other powers that were modernizing.
As of 1936, the Hoover administration’s failure to solve the economic crisis has led to the rise of extremist factions beginning to vie for control of US politics in the form of the Socialist Party of America and the America First Party. Both parties make promises to end the decade of suffering for the common man but are both incompatible with each other and the moderate parties that have dominated the United States since its inception. The world watches as tensions begin to boil over during the 1936 election, as the US descends into what might be a second bloody civil war…

United States Federal Government
Those who stay loyal to the stars and stripes, the government may align with most moderate factions from the surviving Entente to the German Reichspackt. Due to the many ways the civil war can play out, the Feds may retain control of anything from most of the contiguous United States to only the Rocky Mountains/Great Plains and a thin line of states reaching to the capital in Washington D.C. (though if D.C. falls and the Federal Government doesn’t collapse immediately, the capital moves to Denver), with only Baltimore and Norfolk to base their fleets. If an extremist leader takes power in the 1936 election or a moderate candidate fails to take appropriate measures, Douglas MacArthur will coup the government and establish a military junta to see the United States throughout the 2nd American Civil War. Otherwise, the elected moderate president (there are a few choices) will oversee the war effort.
*Note: If any faction doesn’t rise up, its associated ships will most likely remain loyal to the Federal Government.
USS Massachusetts (Massachusetts-Class Carrier) – A converted dreadnought hull, Massachusetts is… kinda hard to visually describe the profile of… uh, think Akagi but with two funnels behind the bridge and the bridge has a large mast with a crow’s nest on top of it.
USS North Carolina (South Carolina-Class Dreadnought) – North Carolina takes the form of a super battleship whose profile kinda more resembles HMS Hood but with standard American birdcage masts.
USS Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania-Class Battleship) – Seemingly vanishes at the start of the civil war; possibly scuttled.
USS Arizona (Pennsylvania-Class Battleship) – Seemingly vanishes at the start of the civil war; possibly scuttled.
USS Tennessee (Tennessee-Class Battleship)
USS Colorado (Colorado-Class Battleship)
USS West Virginia (Colorado-Class Battleship)
USS Houston (Northampton-Class Cruiser)
USS Seattle (Pittsburgh-Class Armored Cruiser) – Looks like an old pre-WW1 armored cruiser. Seemingly vanishes at the start of the civil war; possibly scuttled.
USS San Diego (Pittsburgh-Class Armored Cruiser) – Looks like an old pre-WW1 armored cruiser. Seemingly vanishes at the start of the civil war; possibly scuttled.
USS Concord (Omaha-Class Cruiser)
USS Denver (Denver-Class Cruiser) – The Denver-class looks the same as the Omaha-class.
USS Cassin (Mahan-Class Destroyer)
USS Downes (Mahan-Class Destroyer)
USS McCall (Porter-/Somers-Class Destroyer) – Under construction at the 1936 start date.

Combined Syndicates of America
The Syndicalist faction aligned with the Third Internationale (Syndicalist France, Britain and Northern Italy). Based in Chicago, the faction spans the Rust Belt states of the Midwest and Central Atlantic States, having Philadelphia (and possibly New York City) as its main naval base. The faction is headed by socialist leader Jack Reed.
And yes, the Northern faction is called the CSA.
CNS California (Tennessee-Class Battleship)
CNS Chicago (Northampton-Class Cruiser)
CNS St. Louis (St. Louis-Class Cruiser) – The St. Louis-class looks the same as the Omaha-class. Also, the game calls her USS Saint Louis but let’s just ignore that…

American Union State
The authoritarian faction preferring isolationism. Banded from many completely different political groupings, they control most of the south from the Carolinas to Texas. Major naval bases include the capital of New Orleans, Houston, Miami, Biloxi and Mobile. The loose coalition is headed by Louisiana governor Huey Long.
And yes, the Southern faction is called the Union.
USS Ranger (Ranger-Class Carrier) – Looking more like our timeline’s Lexington, Ranger is a converted battlecruiser hull likely having been originally designed as a Lexington-class battlecruiser. *Also wanted to mention for Neither-Monk, USS Constellation exists as Ranger’s younger sister; basically the Saratoga to Lexington in this universe. Constellation remained loyal to the Federal Government.
USS Maryland (Colorado-Class Battleship)
USS Washington (Colorado-Class Battleship) – An incomplete hull (BB-47) in our timeline, Washington exists as the completed Colorado-class battleship.
USS Birmingham (Chester-Class Cruiser) – The Chester-class looks the same as the Omaha-class.
USS Cleveland (Denver-Class Crusier) – The Denver-class looks the same as the Omaha-class.
USS Northampton (Northampton-Class Cruiser)
USS Richmond (Omaha-Class Crusier)
USS Memphis (Omaha-Class Cruiser)
USS Gridley (Caldwell-/Clemson-/Wickes-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
USS Kimberly (Caldwell-/Clemson-/Wickes-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.

Pacific States of America
Breaking away from the federal government if MacArthur makes his coup, this faction wishes to stay true to the spirit of democracy, claiming to be the legitimate successor to the US government (well, everyone’s doing that but at least they’re actually democratic). Comprising the Pacific States and sometimes spanning into the Rocky Mountains, this faction rules from Sacramento and holds all West Coast naval bases (Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Seattle), having taken most of the West Coast’s fleets in the fracturing of the nation. Their leader is initially Governor Frank Merriam but there are a few candidates for the 1937 interim president.
USS Langley (Langley-Class Experimental Carrier) – Looks the same as Langley in her usual carrier form but with a small bridge. Changes appearance upon swearing loyalty to the PSA for some reason.
USS Nevada (Nevada-Class Battleship)
USS Oklahoma (Nevada-Class Battleship)
USS Lexington (Lexington-Class Battlecruiser) – Lady Lex was completed in her battlecruiser form.
USS Saratoga (Lexington-Class Battlecruiser) – Sara was completed in her battlecruiser form.
USS Pensacola (Pensacola-Class Cruiser)
USS Salt Lake City (Pensacola-Class Cruiser)
USS Omaha (Omaha-Class Crusier)
USS Raleigh (Omaha-Class Crusier)
USS Marblehead (Omaha-Class Cruiser)
USS Craven (Caldwell-/Clemson-/Wickes-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
USS Maury (Caldwell-/Clemson-/Wickes-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
USS Radford (Caldwell-/Clemson-/Wickes-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.

New England
When the Civil War breaks out, New England is dangerously exposed to a Syndicate offensive. Canada, the leader of the Entente and refuge of British royalist exiles, has the choice to intervene and occupy the region, saving the people from the Syndicates but risking altercations with the United States Federal Government down the road. Led by Joseph William Martin Jr., the nation established is aligned with the Entente and controls the New England region (as well as Upstate New York, usually), with its capital, Boston, also being its main naval base while also possessing Providence.
NES Dewey (Farragut-Class Destroyer)
NES Aylwin (Farragut-Class Destroyer)
-----
Royal Navy (Britain)
After a crushing defeat at the Second Naval Battle of Jutland, Germany broke the Royal Navy’s blockade and, after a poorly calculated assault by the Entente, managed to eventually occupy France. The United Kingdom was eventually forced to sign the ‘Peace with Honour’, ending the Weltkrieg and handing victory to the German Empire. After years of hardship in the UK, a general strike quickly broke out into a full-scale Syndicalist revolution, causing the Royalist faction to flee. The Republican faction established the Union of Britain on the island of Great Britain, fracturing the Commonwealth in the process. Because of the split of the ideologies, the sailors of the navy had to make a choice: support the revolution or set sail for loyal shores.
Now, the two sides view each other with disdain, both claiming to be the true British government. It’s been about a decade and while the Royalists plan their return home, the Congress of Trade Unions in London prepares for the forthcoming years, trying to find their place in the Third Internationale. Will the revolution continue or will the birthright be reclaimed?
The following ships were lost before the 1936 start date according to lore.
-HMS Renown (Renown-Class Battlecruiser) – Sunk at the second naval battle of Jutland. Apparently, most of the British battlecruisers were sunk in this action. Nobody seems sure how.
-HMS Repulse (Renown-Class Battlecruiser) – Sunk at Jutland 2.
-HMS Glorious (Courageous-Class Battlecruiser) – Sunk at Jutland 2 in her battlecruiser form.
-HMS Rodney (Admiral-Class Battlecruiser) – Hood’s little sister, sunk at Jutland 2.
-HMS King George V (King George V-Class) – The WW1 warship. Sunk by HMS Queen Elizabeth after having opened fire on a crowd of protestors during the revolution.

Commonwealth of Canada
Leader of the Entente and the remains of the British Commonwealth, the British Crown finds itself as exiles in Canada and trying to hold everyone together. While most of the Weltkrieg and post-Weltkrieg ships fled during the revolution, the bulk of shipbuilding industries could not be brought across the Atlantic and had to be rebuilt from scratch. With the death of King George V, Edward VIII takes the throne and with it, the responsibility of directing the exiles, moderates, monarchists and Canadians from Ottawa to their true objective: retaking the British Isles and crushing the revolution.
HMCS Hermes (Hermes-Class Experimental Carrier) – Hermes takes on the appearance of HMS Argus, as in an early carrier with no bridge.
HMCS Victorious (Magnificent-Class Dreadnought) – Victorious’s profile looks like the N3-class battleship design (think Nelson-class but with the third main battery turret and the bridge swapping locations. And possibly 18-inch guns).
HMCS Rodney (Rodney-Class Battleship) – Rodney looks like a typical WW1 British battleship (possibly like the Revenge-class). A different ship from the previously-mentioned Admiral-class battlecruiser.
HMCS Nelson (Nelson-Class Battleship) – Nelson looks near-identical in profile to Rodney; not 100% sure why they ended up being separate classes.
HMCS Warspite (Queen Elizabeth-Class Battleship)
HMCS Centaur (C-Class Cruiser) – The WW1-era cruiser.
HMCS Curlew (C-Class Cruiser)
HMCS Acasta (Acasta-Class Destroyer) – The WW1-era destroyer.
HMCS Ardent (Acasta-Class Destroyer) – The WW1-era destroyer.
HMCS Amazon (Acasta-Class Destroyer) – The WW1-era destroyer.
Additionally, other ships were spread throughout the Commonwealth.
HMAS Hood (Admiral-Class Battlecruiser) – Now serving in the Australasian (Australia + New Zealand) Navy.
HMAS Grenville (V/W-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer now serving in the Australasian Navy.
HMWIS Curacoa (C-Class Cruiser) – Now serving in the West Indies (Confederation of Entente-held islands in the Caribbean) Navy.
HMIS Delhi (Danae-Class Cruiser) – I suppose this counts? Achilles’s post-war name is a WW1-era cruiser now serving in the Dominion of India’s (the part of India that remained loyal to the Commonwealth; basically the Northwestern part of the British Raj, including Delhi and most of our timeline’s Pakistan) Navy.

Union of Britain
After the revolution, the syndicalist state was established. Retaining certain British traditions, the island no longer holds the world-spanning power it did only decades ago; it does, however, still have its strong naval tradition. Having guided the government for years, Chairman Philip Snowden plans to step down soon, leaving a power vacuum in his wake and factions scrambling for influence, especially the ambitious Maximist leader Oswald Mosley.
Along with its allies in the Commune of France and the Socialist Republic of Italy, London works with the Internationale to prep for war with both the German hegemony over Europe in the Reichspackt and the bitter exiles of the Entente. The fleet has been experimenting with carrier technology ever since an inspiring incident at the second naval battle of Jutland and currently has one of the largest carrier fleets in the world.
RNS Illustrious (Republic-Class Carrier) - Under construction at the 1936 start date. The Republic-class looks the same as the Illustrious-class.
RNS Formidable (Republic-Class Carrier) - Under construction at the 1936 start date. The Republic-class looks the same as the Illustrious-class.
RNS Victorious (Republic-Class Carrier) - Under construction at the 1936 start date. The Republic-class looks the same as the Illustrious-class.
RNS Naseby (Naseby-Class Dreadnought) – Formerly the Magnificent-class dreadnought HMS Illustrious, Naseby uses the same N3 design as HMCS Victorious.
RNS Neptune (Neptune-Class Battleship) – The WW1-era battleship.
RNS Pererloo (Queen Elizabeth-Class Battleship) – Formerly the lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class battleships, HMS Queen Elizabeth played an important role in the revolution in sinking the WW1 battleship King George V, siding with the Republicans and shedding her royal name.
RNS Southampton (Town-Class Cruiser) – The WW1-era cruiser.
RNS Bulldog (B-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
RNS Beagle (B-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
RNS Crescent (C-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
RNS Comet (C-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
RNS Cygnet (C-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
RNS Fortune (F-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
RNS Foxhound (F-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.

Ironblood (Germany)
With their victory in the Weltkrieg and intervention in the Russian Civil War, Berlin holds the dominant position in European affairs and world trade. The German Empire’s Reichspackt holds sway over land from the English Channel to the Caspian Sea. Patrolling colonial holdings in both Africa and Asia, the Imperial German Navy has grown from a rising naval power to a world-spanning force in its own right.
Of course, with such a powerful position comes complacency… the naval air arm is barely past the experimental phase by now. Germany’s old allies in Austria, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire have been busy with their own internal and external affairs, causing the Central Powers to go their separate ways. Meanwhile, the Entente licks their wounds, the Internationale plots its revenge and the Russian Republic, having had German intervention on the side of the Whites in the 1920s, shows signs of instability once more. The moderate government fears stagnation but the prestige and pride of their past victories have convinced them they are on the right path.
Well, at least the economy is doing alright… w-what do you mean the Berlin Stock Market just crashed?
SMS Roon (Maas-Class Carrier) – The class of small-looking carriers seems to have interesting ramps for assistance in aircraft takeoff. Now serving in the German East Asian (assortment of captured British/French colonies in Indochina, Malaysia and the Pacific excluding Fiji, southern New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand; administration based in Singapore) Navy.
SMS Deutschland (Deutschland-Class Dreadnought) – As one of the larger battleships of the Imperial German Navy, the lead ship of the Deutschland-class looks like an up-scaled version of her pocket battleship self but with a third main battery turret to the stern of the warship like our Leipzig-class.
SMS Friedrich der Grosse (Kaiser-Class Battleship) – The WW1-era battleship.
SMS Furst Bismarck (Mackensen-Class Battlecruiser) – Probably doesn’t count but hey, it has the name Bismarck, right? This battlecruiser was planned but never built in our timeline.
SMS Graf Spee (Mackensen-Class Battlecruiser) – This battlecruiser was planned but never built in our timeline. Now serving in the German East Asian Navy.
SMS Scharnhorst (Yorck-Class Battlecruiser) – This battlecruiser was planned but never built in our timeline.
SMS Gneisenau (Yorck-Class Battlecruiser) – This battlecruiser was planned but never built in our timeline.
SMS Prinz Eugen (Prinz Eugen-Class Armored Cruiser) – A modern-ish large cruiser that looks like a smaller version of their timeline’s Deutschland-class dreadnoughts. For perspective, think the size and caliber of guns of our timeline’s Deutschland-class and the turret layout of our timeline’s Leipzig-class. Now serving in the German East Asian Navy. *There is also a cruiser called SMS Prinz Eugen in the Austrian Navy but it based on an older Austrian ship. Austria also has two destroyers called SMS Mars and SMS Jupiter under construction, which doesn’t really count but is quite funny.
SMS Koln (Koln-Class Cruiser) – The WW1-era cruiser.
SMS Leipzig (Koln-Class Cruiser) – The WW1-era cruiser.
SMS Konigsberg (Konigsberg-Class Cruiser) - The WW1-era cruiser. Now serving in the German East Asian Navy.
SMS Karlsruhe (Konigsberg-Class Cruiser) – The WW1-era cruiser. Now serving in the German East Asian Navy.
-----
Sakura Empire (Japan)
Aside from the occupation of the Transamur region of Russia during the Russian Civil War and collaboration with the Fengtian Government of Manchura, Japan has seen little change since the Weltkrieg. The economy stagnates and paranoia abounds of syndicalist plots to overthrow the emperor. Meanwhile, the military is filled with internal strife, the army and navy bickering now more than ever. Despite this, the emperor still rules from Tokyo and the Imperial Japanese Navy is one of the fiercest in the world.
The next few years may decide Japan’s fate, what with the warlords still fighting in China, the turmoil in America and the rising tensions in Europe. Will Japan stand as a shining beacon of democracy in the east? Or will the highest authorities work to bring the Empire of Japan into a new age of glory and conquest?
Hosho (Hosho-Class Experimental Carrier) – Looks the same as in our timeline but retains her bridge.
Shokaku (Shokaku-Class Experimental Carrier) – Looks identical to Hosho.

Mutsu (Nagato-Class Battleship)
Tosa (Tosa-Class Battleship) – Tosa was completed in her battleship form.
Suruga (Omi-Class Battleship) – Kinda hard to explain the Omi-class. Think Nagato-class with a Yamato-style slanted funnel and the main battery turrets closer to the center of the ship, right next to the bridge.
Kongo (Kongo-Class Battlecruiser)
Haruna (Kongo-Class Battlecruiser)
Hiei (Kongo-Class Battlecruiser)
Kirishima (Kongo-Class Battlecruiser)
Amagi (Amagi-Class Battlecruiser) – Amagi was completed in her battlecruiser form.

Mogami (Monobe-/Tokachi-Class Cruiser) – Looks like an enlongated Aoba-class.

Iris Orthodoxy (France)
Following a second mutiny in the French army in the spring of 1919 after failures on the battlefield, a general strike sparked off a revolution. With a civil war akin to Russia breaking out, the new socialist-coalition government accepted a true with Germany, agreeing to pay hefty reparations and cede parts of the French border to German influence, mirroring the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. Ruling from Paris, the revolution took full control of continental France, forcing the old French Republic’s government to flee to Algiers. Just as the people split, so too did the sailors of the Marine Nationale.
Both forces bide their time, across the Mediterranean from one another. The Entente-aligned French Republic wishes to return home like the British exiles in Canada wish to while the Syndicalist Commune of France considers its options regarding its neighbors in Europe while still bitterly plotting revenge against the Reichspackt.

Commune of France
Though having lost control over the former French colonies to the Entente and ceding the Dunkerque coastline and the rest of Lorraine to the Reichspackt, continential France has focused inwards and on its fellow Syndicalist governments in the Internationale, which it leads. Sebastien Faure heads the country with the backing of the Travailleurs but the growing influence of other factions makes it likely he will be ousted in the coming elections. As the symbol of world revolution, the Commune of France has its work cut out for it.
With the Reichspackt showing cracks in its façade, the time has come to begin to confront German influence in Europe. Spain seems on the blade’s edge of a civil war, as does the United States. The Entente, of course, always persists in the back of everyone’s minds. Perhaps a Second Weltkrieg, terrible as such as a concept may be, is on the horizon. As such, France must prepare for it.
Gascogne (Internationale-Class Battleship) – An incomplete hull in our timeline, Gascogne exists as the completed Normandie-class battleship.
Jean Bart (Courbet-Class Battleship) – The WW1-era battleship.
Le Triomphant (Cassard-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
Le Malin (Cassard-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.

French Republic
The government of the French Third Republic, led by war hero Philippe Petain, has taken to its holdings in French West Africa and Corsica, though having lost Morocco to German influence. There is a direct path across the Mediterranean from North Africa to southern France and the French Navy will be the sword with which to cut across it. Still, the situation in North Africa is tenuous; the native population do not wish to continue living under a flag of imperial influence and the land itself is underdeveloped compared to the mainland. For now, working with the Entente is vital to any future victory. The question of the French Republic’s future is one of leadership.
Perhaps the distraction of a conflict between Germany and the French Commune can allow for a homecoming but that may hinge on co-operation with the nation that crushed France twice in the last several decades. Would they even truly be able to retake all of their homeland in a deal with Germany?
Le Temeraire (Aventurier-/Bisson-/Branlebas-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.
L'Opiniatre (Aventurier-/Bisson-/Branlebas-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer.

Sardegna Empire (Italy)
Following defeat against Austria-Hungary, the Austrians reformed the nation’s government into a loose confederation of states that they could more easily control. It did not last long; Italy broke out in rebellion with several sides fight the Austrians and eventually each other. When it was all said and done, five nations remained where Italy has once existed; the Austrian-backed Italian Federation based in Milan and Venice, the Internationale’s Socialist Republic of Italy ruling most of northern Italy from Turin, the Papal State around Rome, Two Sicilies based out of Naples that rules over southern Italy and Sicily, as well as the Italian Kingdom’s original Entente-aligned government based in Cagliari, ruling over the island nation of Sardinia-Piedmont (though with little more than claim over Piedmont).
With so many factions ruling over states all claiming legitimacy to the Italian peninsula, conflict is not a question of if, but when. The powder keg brews…
Italia (Italia-Class Battleship) – A WW1-era battleship. Aligned with the Socialist Republic of Italy.
-----
North Union (Russian Republic)
The devastating Russian Civil War was won by the Whites, but not without enormous cost: the population has been rocked and most of the western territories, along with central Asia and Transamur in the east, have broken away. Japan has propped up a new government in Vladivostok claiming to be the true government of Russia but that is only one of many concerns; the red menace is not going quietly. The populace remains unsatisfied with the governance and little progress has been made on modernization since the Weltkrieg.
With the assassination of unpopular President Alexsandr Kerenskiy, who will take up the head of the new government in the confusion? The monarchists? The nationalists? The socialists? Any of the many democratic factions? Russia’s future is uncertain, but it will probably not be pretty.
Gangut (Gangut-Class Battleship) – Serving in the Russian Navy.
Groznyy (Boykiy-Class Destroyer) – A WW1-era destroyer that was captured from Vladivostok. Now serving in the Transamur Navy.
-----
Eastern Radiance (China)
The empire, long united, must divide. Long divided, must united. The warlord period continues with the Qing Dynasty still holding out in Beijing, the League of Eight Provinces in the South and numerous states in the western mountains and deserts. However, the League seems unstable, as years of German exploitation of the region has led to immerging pushback and splintering of power. The Japanese-backed Fengtian Government in Manchuria watches on, waiting for the right moment to act.
China’s history shows that a central power will someday arise but with so many cliques competing and the battlefield supplied by foreign backers, the process will certainly be neither short nor painless.
Pinghai (Pinghai-Class Cruiser) – A pre-WW1 armored cruiser. Serving with the Qing Navy.

2020.05.08 14:36 The__Clairvoyant Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is the worst in the series

I'd been rereading Harry Potter recently, mostly for nostalgia's sake, and the sixth book really stood out to me in how awful it was. While the other books had their fair share of problems, HBP had the perfect balance of taking itself serious while being filled with stupid nonsense in my opinion. Let's look at the major plotlines that we have going on in this book while I explain my problems with each of them. I think I can identify three major ones.
  1. Harry and Dumbledore's journey into Voldemort's past
  2. Draco tries to murder Dumbledore
  3. Various romantic subplots
1) Harry and Dumbledore's Whacky Escapades
Now of the major plotlines, this one is the most interesting in my opinion. Aside from the brief meeting with Diarymort in Chamber of Secrets, we hadn't really had a window into what made Voldemort, Voldemort.
The issue I have is the way this was paced throughout the story. Logically, the hero should be given the necessary information to defeat the big bad as soon as possible, or at least in a reasonable amount of time. Dumbledore, however, takes his cues from developers of Gacha games and gives the fucking information in small bits, spread throughout the year. It's made worse by the fact that a) the guy is fucking dying, and b) there is an active plot to murder him.
Imagine how fucked everyone would have been if Dumbledore somehow bit it during the beginning of the year. I know Harry isn't really a smart guy but giving him the entire backstory at once isn't going to overwhelm his tiny, smooth brain. He's a big boy now, he can handle it. Bring him into his office, hand him a mug of Firewhiskey, show him Voldemort's past, have discussions about where his Horcruxes might be. You're going to be dead within a year my guy, now's not the time for your vague bullshit.
The is only one actual reason for Dumbledore's 'lessons' to not be possible in a single session. They needed confirmation from Slughorn that Voldemort made 7 Horcruxes, but that can still happen in the background. Dumbledore didn't really have to halt Voldemort's backstory for that.
2) Draco joins the Akatsuki
Another important plotline throughout the book is our favourite racist blood purist's forays into murderhood. He keeps trying to murder Dumbledore only to fail and end up almost nearly murdering someone else. What hijinks! Harry feels like Draco's up to something while everyone else tells him to get a life, and the whole thing is framed as a mystery. I'm not opposed to the basic idea, it's time that Draco actually does something aside from occasionally dropping in, being racist blood purist, then running off cackling into the sunset. The problem is that he nearly fucking kills others and Dumbledore doesn't do anything despite knowing that Draco is the one responsible.
I get that Dumbledore is sympathetic towards Draco but in his plots are seriously endangering other children at his school. Even aside from his murder attempts, he also kept an innocent woman under the Imperius curse for god knows how long to help with his plan. It's just extremely questionable that Dumbledore just allows him to do whatever. Did Dumbledore hear about Ron being poisoned and just went 'Well, there are too many Weasleys anyway'?
Now, I know that Dumbledore hasn't really been competent at any point in this series. However, the first few books were written for literal children and had appropriately childish plots and characters. Half-Blood Prince, in comparison, is a more serious story with much less whimsy. It just becomes jarring when a character like Dumbledore risks the lives of children and nobody actually tells him to knock off.
The main issue here is that Dumbledore's character is in one place while his actions are in another plane of existence entirely. He was a powerful wizard who thought he was hot shit and too good for his family, which consisted of one unstable sister and a goatfucking brother. After accidentally killing his sister, he realises the error of his ways and breaks off with his evil boyfriend. He doesn't trust himself with power due to his past failings but feels forced into situations where he had to pick between Harry's happiness and the greater good of the world. Of course, the actual Dumbledore we see is batshit insane and only makes sense if somebody had been lacing his Lemon Drops with something serious. It's not just a matter of suspending one's disbelief about his actions in the first few books since his stupid decision-making continues well into the later books.
3) Various Romantic Subplots ft. Probable Rapist Romilda Vane
Fellas, have you ever found a girl so hot that seeing her with someone made King Ghidorah appear inside your ribcage? Of course, you did. That's very normal and romantic.
It was as though something large and scaly erupted into life in Harry's stomach, clawing at his insides: Hot blood seemed to flood his brain, so that all thought was extinguished, replaced by a savage urge to jinx Dean into a jelly.
Harry's monster also seems to be a '>tfw no tradwife gf' sort of fella, interestingly enough.
"It is none of your business who I go out with or what I do with them, Ron —"
"Yeah, it is!" said Ron, just as angrily. "D'you think I want people saying my sister's a —"
"A what?" shouted Ginny, drawing her wand. "A what, exactly?"
"He doesn't mean anything, Ginny —" said Harry automatically, though the monster was roaring its approval of Ron's words.
It seems like Rowling had decided that time was ripe for some romance to bloom. Unfortunately, she's very bad at it. Harry's chest monster is the premier example but a good portion of the book is dedicated to a love triangle between Hermione, Ron, and Lavender Brown. I don't know if that was the intention but it just made everyone seem like huge assholes.
In summary, Ron gets jealous that he wasn't invited to Slughorn's party and whines until Hermione invites him as a date. Later on, Ginny basically calls him a virgin during an argument so he makes out with Lavender Brown after a Quidditch game. Hermione is understandably pissed but things become less understandable when she viciously attacks him.
"You shouldn't leave Lavender waiting outside," she said quietly. "She'll wonder where you've gone."
She walked very slowly and erectly toward the door. Harry glanced at Ron, who was looking relieved that nothing worse had happened.
"Oppugno!" came a shriek from the doorway.
Harry spun around to see Hermione pointing her wand at Ron, her expression wild: The little flock of birds was speeding like a hail of fat golden bullets toward Ron, who yelped and covered his face with his hands, but the birds attacked, pecking and clawing at every bit of flesh they could reach.
So Ron starts dating this girl despite not being into her. In response Hermione goes to Slughorn's party with massive chad Cormac McLaggen, who Ron hates, to make him jealous. It takes Ron being poisoned and nearly dying for this bullshit to end. This whole thing is bad soap opera levels of stupid and absolutely nobody comes out of it looking good. In fact, you could remove the entire thing from the book and the main plot would be completely unaffected.
Another thing about HBP is that story places a large emphasis on love potions. It's not a combo that bodes well with badly written romance. While the author's intention might have been to show a cutesy romance, I just kept worrying if our intrepid hero has been roofied. It's not an outlandish idea either since Harry seems like a popular target for people with whacky ideas of consent.
[Hermione] went into the girl's bathroom just before I came in here and there were about a dozen girls in there, including that Romilda Vane , trying to decide how to slip you a love potion. They're all hoping they're going to get you to take them to Slughorn's party, and they all seem to have bought Fred and George's love potions, which I'm afraid to say probably work — "
Predictably enough, Harry receives a packet of chocolates laced with love potions from Romilda Vane, and being a fucking idiot, he keeps them in his trunk instead of throwing them away. This leads to Ron eating them and going crazy over the girl, to the point of attacking Harry for calling his newfound 'love' a joke. Ron is cured shortly and things continue as normal but the girl receives absolutely no punishment as far as we know and quickly gets back to pestering Harry.
The attitude of the wizards towards love potions is something that I just can't wrap my head around. This is a place where casting the Imperius curse means a life sentence on hell on earth but just hooking up someone to an IV drip of love potions to make them fall for you is totally fine? Not even Hermione seems to feel too strongly about them and this the same girl who tried to start a House Elf rebellion. Hell, she just straight up says "Love potions aren't dark or dangerous".
Another fucked up detail is that Fred and George apparently sell powerful Love Potions, and help smuggle them into Hogwarts so that children and hormonal teenagers can use them. While Love Potions weren't invented by this book, it makes things worse by bringing them to the forefront of the story. Aside from that whole incident with Ron, we also see how Voldemort's mother used love potions on his dad, who ran away as soon as he got free. There's also this explanation of a powerful love potion by Slughorn.
"Amortentia doesn't really create love, of course. It is impossible to manufacture or imitate love. No, this will simply cause a powerful infatuation or obsession. It is probably the most dangerous and powerful potion in this room - oh yes," he said, nodding gravely at Malfoy and Nott, both of whom were smirking skeptically. "When you have seen as much of life as I have, you will not underestimate the power of obsessive love. ... "
These things should not leave anyone with a positive impression of love potions but everyone just seems to accept them as something on the level of minor pranks. I'm just baffled at the fact that JKR felt the need to actually emphasize the fact that wizards think date rape is totally normal.
The climax is when shit actually gets real. Harry force-feeds Dumbledore bad memory juice to get a Horcrux, which turns out to be a fake. Snape kills Dumbledore and dramatically reveals that he was the titular Half-Blood Prince (if anybody actually gave a shit about that). The bad guys escape, all of Harry's efforts were in vain, and the only reason Harry is even alive is that Voldemort explicitly told his band of mass murderers to leave him alone. The guy didn't even want Harry to be captured and brought before him. I wonder what changed between Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows that made him change his mind and organise a crazy dogfight fight to kill Harry.
What's disappointing here is that the only thing Harry achieves throughout the book is getting the memory from Slughorn which confirms that number of Horcruxes. It doesn't feel like he grew any significant amount as a person or as a wizard. In contrast, Goblet of Fire also had a downer ending, with Cedric dead, Voldemort coming back, and the ministry in denial. However, Harry actually does shit in that book. He outmaneuvers a dangerous dragon on a broom, learns new spells, fights and defeats a number of different creatures in the final task, and manages to escape Voldemort partly by his own efforts. That's what makes this book worse than the other ones. It felt like everyone just fucked about all year before the tragic climax happens.
The end of the Order of the Phoenix felt like a turning point. Harry finds out the prophecy and realises his destiny, and the threat of Voldemort becomes public. Instead of growing up from the experience, it felt like Harry regressed instead. The stakes in OotP involved the Ministry, through Umbridge, taking over Hogwarts. In response, Harry has to step up and lead a group of students to rebel against her authority. In HBP, the DA is discontinued, relationship drama starts taking a chunk of the plot, and the characters become even pettier and unlikable.
Now, I don't think it would have been better HBP was dark, edgy, and completely serious either. The lighter tone and humour isn't the issue here. It just feels artificially stretched out and filled with annoying teenage drama.
Now, credit where credit is due, there's still one great thing this book has that others don't, Luna Lovegood's Quidditch commentary.

2020.04.24 00:57 Moondial19 Observation 19 Part 2: Electric Boogaloo. (Because no Commander is safe from our ships being themselves...)

Hello! Aoba here! Coming in hot with another addition to the Bunbunmaru Newspaper! I was able to snatch this from the Commander's office thanks to some inside help. Now, I present to you, the next 50 rules from the list! Make sure to check later publications for more exciting details on this now infamous list! This is Aoba, the fastest reporter around and I will talk to you all later!

Rule 0. This list is not to be disclosed to the greater public as that may have very...negative...impacts on our funding. We need money in order to do things girls, so please, act normal not mentally ill. Why is this rule 0? Because this is the rule that comes before all rules.
  1. Your weekly allowance is not to be used purchasing any of the following: gold bars, Plutonium, nudes, body pillows, WMD's, plain white shirts of unknown origin, illegal drugs, poisons of any kind, trap tools, originium, yellow flowers, anyone's soul, BFG's, golden arrows, anything from Siren transports, Element 115, a Holy Grail or copies of Twilight. You are allowed to purchase decorations and items to decorate your dorms as well as clothing and much more. However, any major purchases must be approved by me first!
  2. Atago, you are not a marriage counselor. Neither are you Takao. And no, me and Enterprise do not need counseling. No, Belfast is not trying to ruin our marriage. And no one needs to know who's on top!
  3. York is not the "Grand Master of the Jedi Order" and is henceforth, banned from addressing herself as such. She is also banned from being the Dungeon Master in any DnD style game.

  5. When writing a report, more detail is expected than "Date: [CLASSIFIED]. Location: [CLASSIFIED]. Timeline of events: [CLASSIFIED]". Adding random numbers/letters to look like a cipher is also considered poor form. Trust me, we checked.
  6. The Cleveland sisters are now banned from viewing Monty Python and the Holy Grail due to the resulting aftermath. Colombia wouldn't stop asking Cross about swallows. And no, we do not possess the Holy Hand Grenade and Laffey will not bite anyone's head off. Also, Cross cannot read Aramaic. The Black Beast of Argh also does not exist.
  7. "For the God Emperor" is not an acceptable justification for any action. Not even for the Sakura Empire. Also not accepted are "Blood for the Blood God", "Skulls for the Skull Throne", "Because screw Magnus", "Because I am the mother f'ing Emperor" or "Magic pain glove told me to do it.".
  8. For the last time, I do not have a stand. And for the record, everyone can see Mio's Hatotaurus!
  9. Yes, forum trolls are annoying. No, they are not to be used for target practice for live-fire exercises. Or subjects to any form of experiment. Or food.
  10. No one is allowed to lace my birthday cake with aphrodisiac. Again.
  11. Engaging in flame wars is forbidden for the foreseeable future. We had to replace a lot of computers.
  12. The "Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" is not the grounds for staging a fake destress signal to pit many ships against each other in a race to "rescue" me Akashi. Letting off some steam, however is. Roon is also banned from administrating "Free Hugs".
  13. Manjuus are not to be used in any sport or sport-like activities.
  14. Any proposal which includes the phrase "Metric fuck ton!" will be straight out denied. You have still failed to describe what a "Metric fuck" quantifies as Scharnhorst.
  15. No one is allowed inside my closet. Ever. Not even during emergencies Ayanami.
  16. Yes, my brother's nickname is Cross. I gave it to him so he can feel better about the scar on his cheek. While he is open to the many different names you girls call him, the following nicknames are to be discontinued. They are as follows: "Ozzy, Oppy, Oqqy, Obby, Nothing (clever, I'll admit), Selena but flat, Scarface, Big Brother, Little Brother, Precious Child, Pervert (you asked for his help Hamman), Fun-Police, Bloodbag, Personal Slave, Pest, Childhood Best Friend, Loli-magnet, Dexter, Doc Brown, Honorary Member of the Board of Proud Chests, Useless Idiot (he has a name you know, Hipper?), Arch-nemesis, Lap-pillow, Sensei, Fellow Scatman, Noir 2.0, Histoire 2.0 or Inspector Gadget". Yes, I am exempt from this rule as I am twin-sister. Yes, his real name is weird enough. It's best not to question it. My best explanation is that my mom was an Ancient Classics expert and my dad thought it was a joke.
  17. Vampire is no longer allowed to play "Hippocratic Oath Chicken" with any medical staff.
  18. A full minute of silence means "My God what did you do?", not "Keep firing.".
  19. Pranks against new ships or new staff are not funny because they "ran faster than ever before!", Sara.
  20. Attempts to use on-site radio equipment or any other forms of communication to contact the Creator are outright banned. Cross is still trying to decode the responses received.
  21. Cross has a doctorate, but he is not a medical doctor. So please, stop asking him about: bad stomachs, where do babies come from, free hugs, alternative medicine, the healing power of laughter, how to safely use Hamon, can Determination be extracted, how to construct Void Vessels, mushrooms of any sort, where can you find Green Herbs or how to craft Full Restores.
  22. Alabama is no longer allowed to suggest "add more guns" when drafting plans for coastal defense. Or "get a bigger gun".
  23. Despite any evidence to the contrary, Azur Lane is not affiliated with any of the following: The Imperial Armada, Starfleet Command, The Clockwork Armada, Pirates of any sea, Fleet of Retribution, Aperture Science, Rhodes Island, Kingdom of Atlas, Freelancers, Adeptus Mechanicus, Sentients, Alterra Corporation or the Science Team.
  24. The "Reborn Imperial Russian Navy" is a very stupid idea. Avrora still has some PTSD from that event.
  25. Yes, empirical evidence is the foundation of science. Yes, blind faith is the death of reason. No, this does not logically imply that you are ethically obligated to demonstrate the existence of breasts to Cross, Chapayev.
  26. Drugs of any sort are banned indefinitely from here on out. Anyone found with in possession of drugs not prescribed to them by medical professionals will be hosed with cold water and tied to a chair and be the sole audience member to a Sandy concert. I will go that far!
  27. Searching for Atlantis is not a valid reason to leave port. Neither is searching for R'lyeh, heart of the Bermuda Triangle, an empty Miami beach, Roanoke Colony, pirate gold or the Flying Dutchman. Why? Because we're on an archipelago, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In addition, all girls responsible for this rule will be forced to attend a Geography class led by Ranger.
  28. No one is allowed to encourage the creation of fanart of themselves on any image board. Yes, I check your Noodle-search history. Please stop.
  29. The on-site personnel are not to be referred to as any of the following: Red-shirts, Maids-in-training, Cannon-fodder, Grunts, background characters, the Unworthy, Inferior Beings, Free EXP or Test Subjects.
  30. No Akatsuki, we will not form an official Shinobi Clan. Yes, I know Kirishima, you girls bought the uniforms already. You can still use them, and your skills in espionage are quite useful, I just don't want any more ships to suffer near heart-attacks. Or Cross breaking another leg after you girls booby-trapped his room.
  31. There are no security codes for: Bismarck's porcelain-doll collection, a cassette of "Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money", actually good T4 boxes, a copy of "Hollow Knight: Silksong", Steel Ball Run, Kongo's spare headbands, fog machines, Plutia's plushies, Speedwagon's hat, PTcubes, Asacoco, Shoukaku's meme page, Gangnut's special vodka blend, candy trees or Nagato's other tails.
  32. London is banned from trying to use Siren technology to create the Tardis. Yes, we know it has great tactical value and usability, however, you last attempt went very poorly and the base was without power for 2 days.
  33. While humor can be a great way to improve moral, "yo mama" jokes are banned for the foreseeable future, for...obvious reasons...
  34. Bad luck is not contagious Juneau, so please do not lock yourself in your dorm's closet when something unlucky happens.
  35. Akashi is no longer allowed to accept the following as payment for anything: your soul, anyone else's soul, sap from the Great Sakura Tree, Taiho's love juice, memories (real or imagined), first/second/third-born children, LMD, Enterprise's medals, your voice, 7 years of your life, anyone's Stand, time, jewels from some crazy vampire, glimmer, ponies, someone's beautiful legs, Attack Gems or nuclear warheads.
  36. Noshiro is banned from going near the cliff on the west side of the island with the mission of searching for gems or metal ores. The place is also not called the Beach of Beginnings and you may not address yourself as "Bort" in official documents.
  37. As funny as it was Akashi, please refrain from now on to give high-grade weaponry to the Bullins.
  38. No one is allowed to ask Gascogne to divide by 0, find the square-root of a negative number, or find the last digit of pi. She was comatose for 3 days and she still has unpleasant memories from that event.
  39. PR ships are not to be treated as testbeds for new weaponry. They're expensive enough to maintain and receive. Please do not add another 0 to their maintenance cost!
  40. Siren technology is not to be removed from the Research Labs or from other secure environments. They are especially not to be used in pranks of any sort or used for decorations. We're still getting complaints from universities worldwide after a few devises went haywire and caused several atomic-clocks to be off by 1 microsecond.
  41. While massive railguns are definitely an effective means of protecting the base from conventual assault, we currently do not have the means, time or resources to start construction on a few. Also, installing point-defense weapons on sandcastles is, from now on, banned. We do not need another Sand War.
  42. All of the following movies are banned from Movie Night: The Room, the Disney Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, Pacific Rim, Pearl Harbor, Signs, The Happening, any M. Night Shyamalan movies, any Transformer movies, any war-propaganda movies, Batman Forever, God's not Dead, Frozen, or Cinderella.
  43. Ark Royal is banned from spotting duty. Or anything else involving observation. No, Ark, this will not impede on your detective work because you are not an official investigator.
  44. There is no position for "Grand Marshal" in the Fleet at this time. I don't even know what that position entails.
  45. York is now banned from reading any Harry Potter books or watching Konosuba. Please York, we do not need another explosion, nor do we need "anti-dementor" defenses.
  46. Please use the standard dockyards for refueling, repair and rearming. My personal room is not an infirmary. Nor is it a lounge, armory, library, café, art studio, lookout station or a shrine. And for the last time, stop making spare keys for my room Akagi!
  47. No one is allowed to use Mirror Seas to send things to the past, present, or to alternate dimensions. I don't think Purifier is keen on returning any items sent.
  48. Duplicates encountered in Mirror Seas are to be shot on sight. They are not to be conversed with or, especially, played games with. Having 1 Saratoga is trouble enough! Seeing multiple Laffeys is also very uncanny.
  49. The sale, ingestion, or use of any bodily fluids from me is strictly banned. I do not want to know how on earth did you manage to get them, put please, for the love of all that is holy, STOP SELLING MY BLOOD! Also, the sale of bodily fluids from other ship-girls is also banned. This includes: hormones, milk, blood, spit, oil or "mind-fluid". In fact, the sale of anything from the body is banned. Permanently.
  50. Graf is not allowed to make, take or organize bets on the end of the world. We're trying to improve humanity's chance for survival Graf, not end it!

(100 down, over 150 left to go!)

2020.04.10 22:32 Thebloodyhound90 Idk about you guys but I love those few days after you finish the campaign...

I have so many projects I want to work on in this game that always get put on the back burner for campaigns and missions and the like. Be it finishing Aoba and Fubuki to get Myoko and Akatsuki, grinding the rest of Shchors into Chapy, or continually running all battleships (my specialty) and premium ships to always have accurate, up to date, 1st hand knowledge of how they ALL run -to name a few.
These projects of mine always take a back seat to the camps and missions when earnable premium ships/permanent camo/insignia/promotion orders/etc are at stake. And when they’re over, It’s a nice breather in between the stress of getting missions done in time and having to only play certain ships.
I guess I’m just rambling about how I enjoy the highs and the lows of this game.
Thanks for listening.
The Hound.

2020.04.03 02:29 WandererTJ Part Guide - Comprehensive Free Part List - April 2nd Update

The purpose of this thread is multifaceted. It is meant to help with Part Revivals when they come about, as well as help Your decision regarding parts of currently available suits, which are open to discussion. This will also cover readily available suits from gacha drops, missions, or otherwise. Suggestions always welcome.
This guide won't tell you definitively what the topmost best options are for certain builds, but it presents enough to help Guide your decision. A lot of the parts are included in this list based on how I would upgrade them IF I had the resources. Around the time the Heavyarms was released, we started gaining access to 5★ copies we could get for Event Coins which has helped substantially. If you've been playing a while, getting 3x 5★ parts from an event with your multipliers with the Pink Tune Ups should doable, except with ones that require grinding points.
Things are presently ranked by Must/Yes/Maybe. I've included stars and skill/trait level where possible, expressed as 3★6/10 and the like. 3★1/10 indicates picking up 1 part without upgrades or duplicates, while 5★10/10 indicates fully maxing it out.
I have ordered everything according to release date under their particular sections: - Free 4★ Suits - PVP Reward Suits - Capsule Coin Suits - Event Suits - Gacha Suits
Apologies if the formatting isn't perfect, I prefer constructing guides in Forums.
================== Free 4★ Suits ==================
Artemis:
- Head = Yes (Melee) - This comes with 4★ stats, 383/2378 Attacks, both Protag AND High Firepower. There are better Heads out there, but none are quite as easily obtainable or upgradable as this Freebie. EX Skill is very mediocre, but a ranged debuf can fit nicely on a melee suit. 5★10/10 if you're still growing your collection. - Chest = Maybe (Melee) - This one again comes with 4★ stats. At this time we do have better 4★ Chests for both melee and ranged builds (look for 700+ Atk). Some of our 3★ Event suits have 558 Atk meaning they might be a better priority as well. But with both Protag and High Firepower, this piece is great to have for filler, and has 100 more attack than average 3★ parts. If you have the resources, raising it to 5★10/10 while working on other things isn't the worst idea. - Arms = Maybe (Mixed) - With the likes of the Sword Strike, Susanowo, HiMob Gelgoog, and Rising clocking in at nearly the same attack or higher, and some with better skills, maxing out these aren't as high of a priority anymore. The EX Skill isn't bad, it does knock an opponent down for a while to give you some breathing room (decent on a support suit). Having these maxed early on did help me get through some EX missions where I was getting destroyed thanks to the giant defenses, which was nice because it was 2 slots for the price of 1. These actually have more stat points overall than the Tallgeese EW arms, but are greatly inferior. Raising it to 5★10/10 while working on other things isn't the worst idea, easy and mostly cheap, but there are better things. - Legs = Yes (Melee) - These have absolutely great overall stats and completely overshadow Code Phi's legs in all ways. Sword Strike has better stats for a melee build and Hyaku Shiki has better stats for a shooter build, but Artemis's legs are still have 100 higher on attacks than average 3★ legs and come with Protag as well. The trait isnt the worst thing, but nothing to go crazy over. Raising it to 5★10/10 while working on other things isn't the worst idea, easy and mostly cheap. - Back = MUST (Any) - Once again we have 4★ stats on a 2★. Nothing is too outstanding here, yet it's one of my favorite parts (especially if you are lacking EX Finishers in this slot). The Trait buffs the effect of an EX Skill by 12%. So any buffs to damage via a skill get a boost, whether it's Archer Stance or Bisect. It has Protag, which helps melee suits more, but either way the trait is too nice to pass up. 5★10/10. - Arondight = Yes (Melee) - with what I'm guessing equivocates to 3190 M.Atk with it's trait maxed (3175+15), it's definitely one of the best freebies available. I would give Code Phi's Scythe and Susanowo's Swords the priority followed closely by this. It is also coupled with Protag AND High Firepower, making it even better when those are activated. One downside to me, is this is in the "Blade" category, making it slow attacking. This has fairly average 4★ stats and we've seen better things you can prioritize in Premium Material pulls at this point, but as with the rest of Artemis, raising it to 5★10/10 while working on other things isn't the worst idea, easy and mostly cheap. - Beam Rifle (Artemis) = Yes (Melee) - This has some amazing Shot Attack for this list, but average at best for 4★ rifles. 3175 S.Atk will definitely help if you don't have anything else worthwhile for a shooter build, but this part shines foe melee suits thanks to its access to both Protag and High Firepower. You can get by with 4★1/10, but with as easy as it is to upgrade, 5★10/10 isn't the worst idea.
Code Phi:
- Head = Maybe (Melee) - Overall, the Artemis is better and more regularly available to obtain and upgrade. I would not farm this unless you want the Color set. - Chest = Yes (Melee) - Coming in with 800 Attack and a great skill that buffs M.Atk for your squad, this is amazing. 5★1/10. - Arms = MUST (Melee) - Fitted with 2795 M.Atk AND a trait that can boost melee power on top of that, these are amazing. You'll probably be stuck at +3% for the longest time, but it can get up to a 15% boost. Tags here are a miss, but we can overlook that. 5★1/10 or higher. - Legs = Maybe (Shooter) - The only worthwhile thing that can be said about these is S.Atk slightly higher than avg 3★ legs and the Ace Excl. tag. I would skip unless going for the Color set. - Beam Scythe = Yes (Melee) - This comes with 3594 M.Atk, making it the highest freely attainable melee weapon and it comes with a Ranged Melee EX skill. D Power, but still nice. This also comes with Ace Excl meaning it retains use for Shooter builds when you get better stuff. 5★1/10. - Beam Rifle = I would not farm for this. Bad stats, even for the sake of slapping on for defenses. And rubbish tags to boot.
Gundam F91:
- Head = Maybe (Melee) - This comes with stats that match Artemis with slightly worse tags, but a seemingly great EX Skill. MEPE mode is an awakening with Speed and Attack boosts, but nothing compared to other Buffing heads we have like AGE and Tallgeese. If you need an Awakening in this slot, I would prioritize Blue Destiny Unit-1, which is capable of +39% Melee Attack, 20% more than this does. Assuming you can get enough copies to even get that much. 4★1/10 - Chest = Maybe (Melee) - Again mostly identical to the Artemis Chest. The trait is mostly useless, but probably more worthwhile than Artemis's EX Skill. This Chest still has Protag but downgrades High Firepower for High Mobility. 4★1/10 - Arms = Maybe (Melee) - These are essentially Artemis's arms with slightly worse tags, and a mostly useless trait. 4★1/10 - Legs = Maybe (Melee) - Again, same stats as Artemis, slightly worse tags. The D Power close range Melee EX Skill isn't amazing, probably best to stick with Artemis. 4★1/10. - Back = Maybe (Shooter) - If your goal is to run a 3-slot Magazine build, this gives you an option for it. A better option would be Strike Noir's back. 4★1/10. - Beam Saber = Yes (Melee) - Comes with Protag amd the same stats as Arondight, but this is a Saber instead of a Blade, making it hit faster, which is a big plus. 5★1/10 (or higher). - Beam Rifle = MUST (Melee - PVP Build) - This comes with one of our favorite Traits for PVP, that reduces Initial EX skill charge. You can keep this at 4★ until you get to 7/10, and then I would go for 5★10/10. - Beam Launcher = MUST (Melee - Non-PVP) - Not only does this have Protag, but it's Trait boosts EX Skill Power by 17% at base and can get up to 30% at max. 4★7/10 until you can get more duplicates.
Gundam NT-1:
- Chest = Yes (Melee) - This has 796 M.Atk which is phenominal and 2x 5% M.Atk boosting Tags, Close Combat and Federation. The EX Skill isn't amazing, but not bad for a support suit, raises Defenses up for Ally suits (not itself). - Arms = Yes (Melee) - These have 2781 M.Atk, some of the highest in this list and come with Close Combat. The skill slot is Bad, really bad considering this has 0 S.Atk. - Shield = Yes (DefendeSupport) - Our first Standalone 4★ Shield. It has decent stats, Close Combat, Federation, and a self-targeting Defense Buff EX Skill.
Akatsuki [Oowashi]
- Head/Torso/Arms/Legs/Back/Type 71 Shield = Yes (DefendeSupport) - All the parts have great armor and defenses and come with the Gundam tag. They are otherwise not very mentionable. - Hyakurai (Beam Rifle) = MUST (Melee) - Needs Duplicates, but comes with the amazing trait that reduces Initial EX Skill Charge which maxes out at 20%.
================ PVP Reward Suits ================
Sumo:
- Head = Yes (Melee) - The first of our Melee Buffing heads, like the Tallgeese and AGE Normal. At 5★10/10 this provides a +39% M.Atk Buff Skill. Tags are a miss here. Stats for this suit seem to be lower than average overall, but the attack stats are average. - Chest = Yes (Shooter) - This is one of our better Chests, boasting 558/558 Atk. It also comes with the Ace Excl. tag which is fantastic for shooter builds. The Trait isn't the best, you can get by with 1 copy or max it out. 5★1/10. - Arms = Yes (Shooter) - Coming 2nd currently to the Sword Strike arms, these have 891 Shot Attack, a decent Ranged Skill, AND Ace Excl. Overall these are outstanding. Again, you can get by without maxing the EX Skill, but in the off chance you need a skill in a slot, it isn't bad. The initial damage is great, but the lunge after is very lackluster. 5★1/10 or higher. - Legs = Yes (Any) - This one is a bit confused on what it is for. Above average M.Atk at 558 for legs is great, but it has a ranged EX Skill and comes with Ace Excl for a Shooter build. I give the win to the Hyaku Shiki legs, but activating Ace Excl with these could prove as a better stat stick. 3★1/10 or higher. - Back = Maybe (Any) - These have identical stats to the legs. 558 M.Atk for Melee, and Ace Excl. for Shooters. 3★1/10 or higher. - Heat Fan = Yes (Shooter) - What truly shines about this Axe is that it comes equipped with the Ace Excl. tag. This means you can slap it on any shooter build no problem. 4★1/10 or higher - Hand Beam Gun = Maybe (Shooter) - This was a great entry-level and easily accessible ranged weapon at the start, very overshadowed by things you'd likely focus on with Premium Material. 2593 S.Atk, Ace Excl., and a Trait that adds a flat damage increase of 20 at max.
Strike Rouge IWSP:
- Back = Maybe (Shooter) - Avg 3★ Atk, but it has a pretty great B+ Power EX Skill and the Commander world tag. Most effective at 5★10/10 - Shield = Maybe (Any) - This has great shield stats for a 3★, a non-useless Trait for Out Fighters, and Commander Tag for Shooters. 4★1/10 or higher. - 9.1mm Swords = Maybe (Shooter) - Not great, but worth grabbing 1 of for the Commander tag. 3★1/10.
High Mobility Gelgoog:
- Arms = MUST (Melee) - 2300 Atk, on par with some 4★ suits, AND a trait that boosts M.Atk 25% at max with a Technique build. The tags here aren't the best but could be nice for Arena one day. 5★10/10. - Shield = Yes (Any) - Great Stats, but the Trait here is the draw. Reducing Enemy Shooting Power by 25% at max is fantastic. This also comes with Ace Excl so you can slap in on a Shooter build. 5★10/10.
============= Capsule Coin Reward Suits =============
Buster Gundam:
- Head* = Maybe (Shooter) - 2300 S.Atk and the trait that boosts Shooting Power 25% with Power Attribute. Also comes with Long Range Tag. It's an amazing head for a Freebie, but most things you'd get via Premium Material or Sokai will outperform it. I would keep it tuned with the level you have it at. Needs duplicates. Only worthwhile at 5★10/10. - Torso = Yes (Support) - Avg Stats, Long Range tag for a Shooter, and a pretty awesome Buff EX Skill you can give to a Support suit. At max, raises Ally Attack 29%. Unfortunately you'll need hard to get duplicates to make it worthwhile. Only worthwhile at 5★10/10. - Arms* = MUST (Shooter) - These are Serpent Custom Arms 2.0, but much harder to max out. Serpent's Arms provide a Self-Targeting Shot Attack buff of 39% when maxed and are easy to do so. Buster Gundam Arms do the same thing to the entire squad and come with the Long Range tag. Unfortunately you need a lot of duplicates to make this more worthwhile to equip over the Serpent Arms. Only worthwhile once you get past 5★7/10, aim for 10/10. - Back = MUST (Shooter) - These are the same as the Head, but in a much better slot that doesn't demand higger S.Atk. Again we have the trait that boosts Shooting Power 25% with a Power Attribute build. Also comes with Long Range Tag. You need duplicates to make this worthwhile. Most effective at 5★10/10. - Hyper Impulse Long Range Sniper Rifle* = Yes (Shooter) - Only recommending this if you have zero decent 4* Ranged weapons with 3500 or more attack. 2867 is amazing for a 3★ part, it has a suitable EX Skill, and Long Range. Sadly my least favorite duplicate to get from this suit. 5★1/10 or higher, or skip it.
=================== Event Suits ===================
First off, I recommend keeping 1 complete set of each, for future events, world tags, and even the occasion of messing around and building something you just like how it looks. So even if a part isn't listed, it doesn't mean I didn't keep 1.
Rising:
- Arms = Yes (Melee) - 2300 Atk, Useful at 5★ & 1/10. - Back = Yes (Support) - Debuff defenses of a target by 39%. Useful in a pinch and versus Raid Bosses. Useful at 4★ & 8/10 or higher. It also has an Skill Growth Rate of 2, which is nice.
Blitz:
- Head = Yes (Support/Tank) - Comes with a Recovery that heals everything but itself. 3★ & ↑6/10 or higher. - Torso = Yes/Maybe (Shooter) - Comes with an Awakening Skill that boosts S.Atk and makes you harder to target. Downside, it has 0 Shot Attack of its own. 3★ & ↑6/10 or higher.
Gerbera Tetra:
- Torso = Yes (Shooter) - 558 S.Atk, Ace Excl. 5★&1/10 - Arms = Yes (Shooter) - 558 S.Atk, Ace Excl. 5★&1/10 or higher - Legs = Maybe (Shooter) - Avg Attack, Ace Excl. 3★&1/10. If the Skill interests you at all, it has a 1★ Skill Growth Rate. - Back = MUST (Shooter) - Avg Attack, Ace Excl, and it Buffs EX Skill Effects up 15%. Useful at 4★&8/10 or higher.
Tallgeese:
- Head = Yes (Melee) - At Max, it Buffs Melee 39%. Useful at 5★&10/10. - Chest and Arms = Yes (Shooter) - Both comes with Commander and Long Range if you are close to activating either or both for a build. 3★&1/10.
Hyaku Shiki:
- Head = Maybe (Any) - While Head Vulcans are generally bad, these have a 1★ Growth Rate, making raising the debuf easy. - Legs = MUST (Shooter) - 558 Atk, Ace Excl./Commander Tags. Useful at 5★&1/10. - Back = Maybe (Shooter) - Very niche, requires a specific enemy type, and needs to be 10/10 to be useful. - Clay Bazooka = Maybe (Shooter) - has a good 3s Initial CD, high Atk for a 3★, and Shooter tags. D Power, but the EX Skill is rather nice. - Beam Rifle = Maybe (Melee) - Boosts EX Skill Power 25% when attacking with Beam. Unhelpful Tags though. Useful at 4★&8/10 or higher.
Gundam Gusion:
- Hammer = Maybe (Shooter) - It has a great spread of Armor, Defenses, and Resists, 3★&1/10 or higher. - Submachine Gun = Yes (DefendeMelee) - Same as the Hammer, but for a Melee build.
Sword Strike:
- Torso = Yes (Any) - 558/558 Atk, 5★&1/10. Also coupled with High Firepower and Close Combat for Melee Builds. - Arms = MUST (Shooter) - 2593/1114 Atk. One of the highest S.Atks around, worth it at 5★&1/10. - Legs = Yes (Melee) - 558 M.Atk and High Firepower. Useful at 5★&1/10.
Stargazer:
- Back = Yes (Shooter) - Awakening Skill at 5★10/10 provides +20% Speed, 19% S.Atk, and 29% S.Def. - Pilot - Selene McGriff = Yes (Support/Shooter) - Support with 1142 S.Atk. She won't beat out Middle or Long Shooters at 889 S.Atk with their Job License active, but definitely worth having in a world where good pilots are hard to come by at times.
Delta Plus:
- Head = Maybe (Melee) - Comes with 1★ Growth Rate Vulcans for debuffing, and Federation tag that boosts Melee 5%. - Back = MUST (Any) - For Power Attribute Suits - Buff EX Skill Effect (buff buffer) by 15% at 5★&10/10. Good for any build, better for Shooters thanks to the Mid-Range tag. - Shield = Yes (Shooter) - Comes with a C-grade Magazine Skill, which while there are better ones available, this is a good fallback. Max the Skill at whatever ★ you want to upgrade to.
Gundam TR-1:
- Back = Yes (Melee) - Awakening Skill at 5★10/10 provides +20% Speed, 19% M.Atk, and 49% Phys.Res. Federation Tag as a bonus. - Beam Rifle = Maybe (Melee) - Pretty much the same as the Gusion Hammer. This is good for slapping on for Armor, Defense, and Resists. - Shield Booster = MUST (Any) - For Technique Attribute Suits - Buff EX Skill Effect (buff buffer) by 15% at 5★&10/10. Comes with Federation & Long Range Tags, helping both shooter & melee builds.
Rozen Zulu:
- Chest = Maybe (Melee) comes with 558 M.Atk, but the Sword Strike beats this out by far thanks to its superior Tags. - Back = Maybe (Any/Support) - Provides a stunning skill. We haven't seen much use for these yet, but could be useful one day.
Gundam AGE Normal:
- Head = Yes (Melee) - Effectively the same as the Tallgeese head but less confused about what it is. At 5★10/10 it provides a +39% M.Atk Buff Skill. Tags are still a miss. - DODS Rifle = **MUST** (Melee) - 100% 5★ this and 10/10 it. Initial EX Skill Charge boosted 12% with Power Attribute AND it comes with Protag. - Shield [AGE] = MUST (Melee/Shooter) - At 5★10/10 it buffs EX Skill Effect up 15% for Power Attribute suits. Also comes with Mid-Range for Shooter builds.
Heavyarms:
- Chest = Maybe (Shooter) - 558 S.Atk & High Firepower. - Arms = Maybe (Shooter) - 558 S.Atk & High Firepower. Sword Strike and Gerbera Tetra beat these out, but worth keeping a copy of. - Legs = Yes (Shooter) - Although very niche, they raise Long Shot Attack 14% at 5★10/10 with Technique Builds. Also come with High Firepower. - Back = MUST (Shooter) - This can be essential for completing certain speed kill challenges thanks to its 0s Magazine Skill that fires a machine gun. Raise as high as you can. - Pilot - Trowa Barton = Yes (Shooter) - 891 S.Atk + Middle Shooter + High Firepower. Not amazing, but one of the best 3★ shooters at the time.
Gundam Nadleeh:
- Arms = MUST (Melee) - Only 1698 M.Atk, but they come with a boost to Melee Power of 25% for Speed Attribute builds at 5★10/10. - Back = MUST (Shooter) - boosts Shooting Power 25% with Speed Attribute builds at 5★10/10.
Jagd Doga:
- Legs = Maybe (Shooter) - 559 S.Atk and Long-Range
Launcher Strike:
- Head = Maybe (Shooter) - Most Natural Pinks will suit you better, but this does have 2300 S.Atk, Long Range & High Firepower. Has a decent EX Skill that debuffs Beam Res of all enemies.
Strike Noir:
- Back = **MUST** (PVP Shooters) - 0s Magazine EX Skill with B+ Physical Power, and a capacity of 7 at 5★10/10. These aren't quite as good as Crossbones, a little less damage and a much slower animation, but still very good.
Gundam Kyrios
- Head = Maybe (Melee) - Decent option if you're trying to reduce an opponents shot damage down, but requires using a Machine Gun. - Back = MUST (Shooter) - Awakening skill that at 5★10/10 provides +20% Speed, 29% S.Atk, and 49% Beam Res. Bad Tags, but the Skill has a 1★ Growth Rate, meaning maxing it only requires a few copies. Almost worth going for a 2nd, but you only really need 1 with all the good back options available. - Shield = Yes (Melee) - Great EX Skill here with B Power. It dashes in, grabs the opponent, and grounds them for a time. It's not on par with the big A Power Finishers and can get cancelled easily by being hit, but a worthwhile pickup nonetheless.
Gouf Custom
- Chest = Yes (Melee) - At 5★10/10 it reduces EX Skill cooldown with In Fighters by 15%. Avg M.Atk, but useful in long missions.
Crossbones Gundam
- Head = Maybe (Melee) - This comes with Protag, Close Combat, and a 1★ Growth Rate Vulcan Debuff skill. Worthwhile at 3★6/10 or higher. - Chest = **MUST** (PVP Shooters) - Hello, meet one of the best EX Skills currently in the game. This has a 0s Magazine Skill with a Magazine of 7 and B Power (Beam). It fires essentially a shotgun from your torso. The spread of the attack sometimes varies, but when everything hits, things get hurt bad. If you missed out, make sure you have a healthy stock of Technique cards for when it reappears. 5★10/10. - Beam Zanba Sword = **MUST** (PVP Shooters) - EX Skill Power Boosted 25% with Technique Builds at 5★10/10. - Shield - ABC Cloak = Yes (Melee) - Reduces enemy shooting power 25% with a Technique build and comes with Protag and Close Combat. - Back = Maybe (Melee) - Vernier Consumption down 15% at Max, which is great for In Fighters and comes with Protag.
Blue Destiny Unit-1
- Head = MUST (Melee) - Awakening Skill (EXAM System) raises Speed 20% and M.Atk 39%. It also comes with Close Combat. This also has a 1★ Growth Rate, meaning maxing the skill out is very easy. If you run Exia's Trans-Am Raid, the Tallgeese and AGE heads win out since their buff will stack on top, but with ARF's Bisect, this Awakening Head stacks amazingly. The Efreet Head below also shares this Awakening Skill.
Kabakali
- Head = Maybe (Melee/Tank) - Reduces Enemy Shooting Power 25% as a Technique build at 5★10/10. - Legs = Maybe (Shooter) - Very niche, requires a whip and only boosts Shooting Power at Mid-Range by 14% at max. 3★6/10. - Beam Shotgun = Maybe (Shooter) - I think the S.Atk is too low to justify using, but it does have an EX Skill akin to the Crossbones chest.
Gundam AGE-2 Normal
- Chest = Yes (Melee/Any) - 561 M.Atk, at 5★10/10 reduces EX Skill CD by 15% while Transformer is Active. - Legs = Maybe (Melee) - Avg Attack, Decent EX Skill with Protag. - Hyper DODS Rifle * = Yes (Melee) Not as versatile as the regular DODS Rifle due to requiring the Transformer tag, but the Trait is very good. 5★10/10.
Efreet Custom
- Head = Yes (Melee) - This is essentially the same as the Blue Destiny Unit-1 Head, which wins out because it has Close Combat. This is still worth picking up. Best at 5★10/10. - Chest = Yes (Melee) - Buffing Trait - EX Skill Effect up 15% with In Fighters at 5★10/10. Bad tags, but comes with above average M.Atk at 561. - Arms = Yes (Shooter) ↑4★ & Level 8/10, this has a 1★ Growth Rate, meaning maxing the skill is pretty easy. It has a less than stellar Magazine skill, but if you want a 3-slot magazine build, this will help you
Susanowo
- Chest = ↑4★ & Level 8/10, this has a 1★ Growth Rate. While it looks like the Crossbones chest on paper, it underperforms by a lot and won't do overkill like it can. If only all Vulcan attacks were Magazine skills. - Arms = MUST (Melee) - With Dual Sabers, Melee Power boosted 25%, Max to 5★10/10. Also comes with 2300 M.Atk and Close Combat. - Legs = **MUST** (Melee) - Helllllooooo Trans Am Raid. Our first Finisher move on an Event suit. Has B Power and a built-in Awakening that will raise Squad Melee 39% when maxed. Also comes with Close Combat. 5★10/10. - Shiranui/Unryu Swords = Must (Melee) - Starting with 2867 M.Atk and Close Combat, these come with the great trait that boosts Initial CD charge by 12% at max. Very serviceable even if it's 1200 shy of the best melee weapons. Max to 5★10/10 - Pilot - Mr. Bushido = Yes (Melee) - 1142 M.Atk, In-Fighter, and Close Combat. Part Trait is good too, reducing EX Skill CD 15% at 5★10/10.
Gaia Gundam
- High Energy Beam Rifle = Yes (Melee) - Boosts EX Skill Power 25% with a Speed Attribute build. Max to 5★10/10. - Mobile Shield [Gaia] = Yes (Melee) - This comes with excellent defenses and a skill known for halting opposing Finishers. Get it as a 5★. Not sure if going for 10/10 is necessary on this one, but 3s Initial CD means it will be available from the start of a match.
Arche Gundam
- Arms = Maybe (Support Shooter) - Useful trait, bad everything else. ↑4★ 8/10 or 5★ bought at 550 Coin, or skip. - Legs = Maybe (Melee) - The EX Skill is Funnels that run off of the M.Atk stat. But that's if Funnels ever get a buff and become useful. Comes with Close Combat. - Back = MUST (Melee) - 5★ ↑10/10, Melee Power +25% when Close Combat is Active is lit, and it comes with the tag. - Shield = Maybe (Any) - Not the best Awakening we've seen, but certainly worth picking up and holding onto for a rainy day. Take the Skill level up as high as you're interested in. 3★6/10, 4★8/10, or 5★10/10. Don't spend your pinks on this, just get the 5★ via 550 Coins.
Rebawoo
- Arms = Maybe (Shooter) - These is not the Crossbones Magazine Skill you're looking for. The skill isn't great and neither are the stats. But in the off chance you have to use it, having it at 3★ and 6/10 for more shots will be decent. - Back = Yes (Melee) - With"'Zeon", boosts Melee Atk 25% at 5★10/10. Zeon isn't the best, but having this for Arena in the future isn't a bad idea. - Beam Rifle = Yes (Melee) - This is another clone of the DODS Rifle. Recommended at 5★10/10. This will be good to have if Commander is ever a required World Tag in Arena.
Gundam Throne Drei
- Body = Yes (Shooter) - This comes with 558 SAtk which makes it great for shooters. Everything else about the part is a miss. Fine at 5★1/10 or higher. - Arms = Yes (Shooter) - These also come with 558 SAtk and a shooting EX Skill, which while it is terrible, at least it's better than having a melee one. 5★1/10 or higher. - Back = Yes (Support/Tank) - This has an EX Skill that provides the unit's teammates (not itself) a buff to all defense and resistance stats.
Build Gundam Mk.II
- Body = Yes (Shooter) - This comes with 558 SAtk which makes it great for shooters. I feel like the tags on this ones are less bad than the Throne Drei, but they still aren't doing it any favors. Fine at 5★10/10 or higher. - Arms = MUST (Shooter) - Whoa momma I love these, not perfect, but still amazing. For starters, we have 558 SAtk, so it's already in the above average category for SAtk stats. It also comes with the EX Skill that buffs both attack stats by 39%!!! This is a massive upgrade to the Serpent Custom thanks to the stats. It's also very easy to get if you max it out during it's initial event. This also has more SAtk than the Buster Gundam arms, but those arms boost an entire squad, not just yourself. Much harder to max out though. The only complaint on these is the lame World Tags. 5★10/10. - Beam Saber = Yes (Shooter) - With "For Computers" world tag active, Initial EX Skill Charge boosted 12% when this is maxed. Okay, so the conditions for activating this one is a bit of a pain, but shooters have been screwed in the past with this Trait being mostly limited to rifles with bad stats. I can imagine we'll eventually get accumulate enough For Computers parts to hopefully make this worthwhile, but even if we don't, you never know when Arena will require it. 5★10/10.
Gundam Maxter
- Chest = Maybe (Melee) - We have a trend with 3★ G Gundam chests. This one comes with pretty poor attack stats, but unlike Rose or Dragon Gundam, the event allows us to get a 5★ copy relatively easy to max out the EX Skill, which like the others, is an awakening. It boasts +20% Speed and +19% to both MAtk and SAtk. We've seen better. I'd max it out during the event, but not the revival, just for having a decent EX for future G Gundam Events. Best at 5★10/10. - Arms = Yes (Melee) - This comes with 2300 MAtk, Mobile Fighter AND Close Combat Tags, and an insanely good B-power physical ranged Melee EX. Best at 5★10/10.
Mack Knife (Mask)
- Arms = Must (Shooter) - So we have bad stats and bad tags here, but the EX Skill is reportedly even better than the Crossbones X1 chest for achieving 1HKOs in Arena. Get this, and max it out. 5★10/10.
Gundam Virtue
- Head = Maybe (Shooter) - This comes with 2304 SAtk which is outstanding for a 3★ Head. (You're still better off with a 4★ Shooter head though). The trait and tags hold this guy back, but for future events, if you still lack the Dynames head for your shooter, having this one handy will be beneficial. 5★1/10 or higher. - Legs = Maybe - there's nothing actually really special about these other than their 2★ ex skill Growth Rate. With B.T. in the game now, finding parts that you can max out easy is nice. For this I would bring to 4★8/10 and not expend any extra resources. - GN Bazooka = Yes (Shooter) - Boasting 2871 SAtk at max, at the time of release it has the highest atk of all 3★ ranged weapons. It comes with a fairly good B/B 3s EX Skill too, though it's a little too lengthy for arena use. It also comes with High Firepower as an added bonus. 5★10/10.
Ryusei-Go (Graze Custom II)
- Head = Maybe (Melee) - Do we have enough heads with buffs/awakenings at this point? Apparently not. Stats and tags are a total miss, but the EX Skill provides an Awakening granting +20% Speed and +29% MAtk. Useful at 5★10/10 if you need it. - Chest = Maybe (Shooter) - Probably the best part for this guy. The atk stats are poor, but the Ace Excl tag combined with the trait is pretty nice. At max the trait provides +25% Shooting Power with a Technique build. I'd still rather have Crossbones in my chest slot for Arena, but this does let you play with builds for Raids or otherwise. 5★10/10.
SD Command Gundam
- Legs = Yes (Shooter) - These come packed with 559 S.Atk, which is the top end for 3★ shooter legs, ranking up alongside the Hyaku Shiki legs. The tags aren't great, but the Trait is decent. At max, the trait provides Long Shooter with 25% reduction against melee attacks. Not meta breaking, but definitely could help in some missions. Since there isn't a lot going on for this event, 5★10/10 shouldn't be hard to accomplish, but you could get by with 5★1/10 if you just want it for the stats.
These are all suggestions. In terms of revival events, if there is nothing of interest to you stat/skill-wise, but you DON'T have the colors/glow color, it is recommended to get 1 of each to obtain it. Hyaku Shiki's Glow Color for instance can make the Artemis Chest blacked out. If you already have everything from a running event, keep the S/P/T part molds, and sell the event-specific dust for coins.
================ Gacha Suit Parts ================
3★ Gundam AGE Titus — Back — At Max, can provide x1.25 boost to Physical Melee Attack Power, and comes with Close Combat & High Firepower.
3★ Gundam AGE Titus — Legs — Good defenses, Close Combat & High Firepower, and at Max, has a Debuff that reduce shot attack of ALL Enemies by 24%.
3★ Dragon Gundam / Gundam Rose — Chest — Both of these come with the Awakening Skill "Hyper Mode", which at Max, provides +20% Speed, and +19% to both Attacks. Both also have above average M.Atk for a 3★ at 559. Both come with Mobile Fighter, but Dragon inches out past Rose by also having Close Combat. Recommended for Melee Builds that are trying to stat boost but lack Trans Am/Trans Am Raid/EXAM System
3★ Dragon Gundam — Arms — These come with a B- Power "Ranged" EX Skill that also reduces Shot Defense of a single opponent by 19% at Max. While Keying off of Shot Attack, this is a melee range move, and might be a little slow for some people's liking. The Debuf may be nice for things like Raid Bosses.
3★ Duel Gundam — 57mm High-Energy Beam Rifle — At Max, can provide +25% EX Skill Damage for S-attribute builds. Good for Melee Builds.
3★ Kampfer — Legs — These have a worthwhile B+ Physical Ranged EX Skill and come with the High Firepower Tag. Shooter Builds Only.
3★ Kampfer — Back — A Magazine EX skill in the same vein as the Strike Noir back, it trades stun chance (which rarely happens when you need it) for AoE. Also has High Firepower. Shooter Builds Only. Power: D, Magazine Size: 7, Physical Shot. Not the most damaging, but great to have as a fallback.
3★ Gundam NT-1 [Chobham] — Chest — One of the better Recovery/Healing units in a slot that doesn't make or break a build. At Max, heals for 38% to all Allies. Any Build.
2★ Gundam Mk-II [AEUG] — Legs — These come with the Hate Up skill, which draws all aggro towards the suit for a period of time. Has Niche usage, but worth holding onto in case it's ever needed.
2★ GN Archer — Back — The Guided Missile EX Skill has proven useful for speed-kill challenges. Though not as good as Heavyarms, it can be received more regularly.
2★ Large Heat Hawk (Axe) — Comes with both Ace Excl AND High Firepower Tags - Shooter Suits Only.
2★ Dead End G (Axe) — Comes with both Ace Excl AND High Firepower Tags - Shooter Suits Only.
2★ Gundam [Pre-Reg] — Shield — Comes with both the Protag and Close Combat Tags, otherwise useless.
1★ Serpent Custom — Arms — At Max, can provide a x1.39 Shot Attack buff skill for Shooter builds.
1★ GM II — Legs — At Max, can provide a x1.39 Melee Attack buff skill for Melee builds.
1★ Kamfer — Back — has Melee Up instead of the bazookas that the 3★ version has; it also has stats equivalent to the 3-star variant. Since it's exclusive to capsule coins, maxing it out will be difficult for most.
1★ Zaku II — Zaku Machine Gun — At Max, it provides 10% Initial EX Skill Charge - Melee Suits Only.
1★ Bullpup Machine Gun — At Max, it can provide a 10% Initial EX Skill Charge with a Speed build - Melee Suits Only.
============= Note Regarding 3★ Stats ============= * 2590+ - Ideal Attack for Weapon, Head (Shooter), Arms (Melee) * 2300+ - Servicable Attack, seen on Rising's Arms * 1700+ - Ideal Defender Armor (Chest), seen on Gusion. Not ideal for a primary attack stat. Stick with 2000+. * 1433+ - Mostly just for armodefense. * 1140+ - Minimum acceptable for a Defensive part stat (Chest/Legs/Back/Shield). Sword Strike has Shot attack with this value. * 889+ - About the best possible Attack for a non Weapon, Head (Shooter) or Arms (Melee) * 558+ - Above average * 291+ - Average run of the mill bad stat * 0+ - bad stat is bad.
================== Pilot Section!!! ================== Exclusive Pilots:
- Harry Ord - Defender, 1142 MAtk, Close Combat - You might consider this Baby Mikazuki. Great Defender, amazing option for all the crap missions that make you guard 3 times. - Treize Khushrenada - In Fighter, he's pretty bad. If you maxed him out, his greatest usage comes in B.T. Training as a CPWR stat stick. - Selene McGriff - Supporter, 1142 SAtk, Reduces Enemy EX Skill Penetration. - Pretty great when needed, but even though she has higher attack than some Shooters, activating their license will put them in a league past her. - Cagalli Yula Athha - Middle Shooter, 893 SAtk, Boosted Projectile Speed. - Cagalli is pretty run of the mill, no reao reason to use him over Trowa. - Trowa Barton - Middle Shooter, 891 SAtk, High Firepower, All Ranged Magazine boosted 14% - Thanks to the High Firepower tag, which quite a few shooter parts have access to, Trowa can beat out the likes of the class of ≈1140 SAtk pilots. Really good shooter. - Sven Cal Bayang - Out Fighter, 889 MAtk, Initial EX Skill Charge boosted 12% with Speed builds (this make Eledore Massis completely obsolete) - While sacrificing some attack and boosts to damage/EX Skills, this guy will help you get those instant Cinematic Finishers ready. - Johnny Ridden - In Fighter, 1142 MAtk, Buff EX Skill Effect 15% with Technique builds - Great for melee builds and helps turn good EX Skills into nukes. - Mr. Bushido - In Fighter, 1142 MAtk, Close Combat, EX Skill Cooldown reduced 15% with Power builds. - Not as good as Johnny Ridden for fast damage output, but has a better World Tag and more useful in long drawn-out missions. - Nena Trinity - Supporter with boosted EX Skill Recovery (with Speed builds), which is actually probably the best trait you could give to a Supporter. - Soma Peries - Middle Shooter, Enemy Shooting Power reduced 25% with Power builds. For anyone attempting damage immunity builds, this is your girl, wait... you weren't? - Tieria Erde - Long Shooter, 1144 SAtk, High Firepower, All Ranged Magazine boosted 14% - This guy is basically a better version of Trowa (RIP) for those using Power shooters instead of Technique shooters.
3★ Shooter Pilots
- Shiho Hahnenfuss - Long Shooter, 1142 SAtk, Ace Excl. and Long Range Tags, Ranged Weapon Magazine Boosted 14% - Aina Sahalin - Long Shooter, 1144 SAtk, Long Range Tag, Buff EX Skill Effect 15% with Technique Builds - Lunamaria Hawke - Long Shooter, 1142 SAtk, Long Shot Attack raised 14% with Technique builds - Dearka Elsman - Long Shooter, 1142 SAtk, Long Range Tag - Roux Louka - Middle Shooter, 1144 SAtk, Mid-Range Tag - Cima Garahau - Defender, 891 SAtk, Ace Excl.
3★ Melee Pilots
- Chloe Croce - Out Fighter, 1144 MAtk, Vernier Consumption Reduction - Ramba Ral - Defender, 1142 MAtk, Close Combat, Boosted Vernier Recovery Rate
3★ Support Pilots
- Fa Yuiry - Supporter, 891 SAtk, EX Skill Recovery +16% - Cecily Fairchild - Supporter, 889 SAtk, Ace Excl.
2★ Pilots:
- Eledore Massis - Supporter, 187 M/SAtk, Initial EX Skill Charge boosted 11% with Speed builds

2020.04.01 16:33 watchedgantz Translation Akatsuki Natsume's blog update about final volume

http://natsumeakatsuki.blog.fc2.com/
Akatsuki Natsume posted a blog post about Konosuba today. Here is my translation for it.
May 1st will be the release date for my signature series's final volume.
Since the web version, I've been writing konosuba for 8 years now. I didn't think it would become such a long run serires!
I was able to finish the main story thanks to the fact that everyone have been supporting me. Thank you so much.
But wait, this is just the end for the main story. Please don't get angry with me if I started writing about the stories after.
I started playing the konosuba mobile game recently too.
By the way, there is an April Fool event today, the Axis cultist has been taking over the game. It's nice that the developers are having fun too.
If they could increase the gacha rates, that would be great.
The konosuba site got an update too. It's weird that they say it's the end when who knows how much stories will be there after.
So many bad news recently but I'd be very happy if you can sit at home and laugh while reading konosuba.
You can get the digital version with out going outside so please give it a thought too.
Of course the book version would be great too but it's dangerous to go outside recently. It can't be helped.
It's late but looks like "Sentouin, hakenshimasu!" is getting an anime adaptation too.
I asked the producer when I met him, "do you seriously want to make this an anime?", and yep, it's real. Looks like I will have to say "Sorry for making you say such lines" again to the seiyuu...
I wonder who will be the seiyuu for Tiris who will be shouting "that". I'm excited about it.
Also, I have been able to say this because I was so busy but "kemonomichi" anime has finished too. The discs are on sale. This was a wonderful anime too so please give it a try if you want.
By the way, looks like there is an Akatsuki Natsume official twitter account now.
I don't know what I should post but it's an account for Akatsuki Natsume to promote Akatsuki Natsume.
I really don't know what to post.
many people asked me if this account is real. Yes it is.
The person using it is my producer. Please tell him if you have any request, for example "Please let the writer have a 10 years vacation" or something.
They told me to tweet something sometime so I guess I'll tweet some stupid things when I feel like it.
Finally, please follow "Konosuba" main story until the end!

2020.02.13 21:44 WandererTJ Part Guide - Free, Event, & Wellfair Parts - Valentine's Update

A lot of the parts are included in this last based on how I would upgrade them IF I had the resources.
A dedicated Pilot section might be added eventually.
Apologies if the formatting isn't perfect, I prefer constructing guides in Forums.
================== Free 4★ Suits ==================
================ PVP Reward Suits ================
=================== Event Suits ===================
================ Gacha Suit Parts ================

2020.02.12 19:47 WintryOne [Translation] Author's twitter comments on Memory Snow from the Director's Cut

Source: starting from here: https://twitter.com/nezumiironyanko/status/1227600795106865155
Nagatsuki-sensei has been tweeting commentary on the new episodes. Here's this week's batch.
Spoiler warning: Some post-anime content is incidentally referenced.
Rough translation:
This week is Memory Snow!
Going with the flow from episode 11, it feels very luxurious to be able to be able to watch "Memory Snow" as episode 11.5.
For the English monologue at the beginning, Kobayashi-san was asked "Please make it sound like you can't read it". Kobayashi-san studied overseas, so he probably could have pronounced it properly. Maybe.
That outfit Subaru is wearing, do you suppose that's something he picked from the Roswaal manor changing room?
Looking at it like this, it's a tremendously serious start. It's a prologue like you'd see in a Doraemon movie.
About Rem being right beside Subaru after he wakes up, after arc two, Rem goes to see Subaru's sleeping face before she goes to sleep, and before she starts work in the morning. It's one of several rules Rem has for herself.
It's 'ice season'. In short, it's winter. Incidentally, summer was made into 'fire season'.
Nee-sama is so chilly that she's in a poor mood.
Roswaal's grandmother was called 'Roswaal J. Mathers', and appears in the "Sword Demon Love Ballad" that depicts the civil war in Lugnica's past. The comic is coming out now, too!
The date being spoken of here is the date that was promised at the close of arc two.
Is Rem perhaps the one that prepared this game-time underwear? Subaru maybe? However, it does really seem like you couldn't make underwear like that without modern-day knowledge.
Subaru is the kind of guy that can't sleep the day before an event.
Here, too, the alarm is 'The Road to Dawn' (note: opening song from 'Dog of Flanders'). I recall suggesting 'That's Subaru's alarm, so it would be bad if you used the wrong one!' in the script meeting, as though I'd just remembered it.
During "Memory Snow", another luxurious thing is how often Emilia-tan changes clothes.
Just as expected, they've changed to ice-season-use maid outfits.
We did make sure to get permission from Natsume Akatsuki!!
The reaction here when the doorknob is cold might be interesting when you remember it two weeks from now.
Life is tough for guys who've got it.
It's written '発魔期' (note: roughly magic production period). Beings who have somewhat powerful magical nature turn out like this when they can't control it very well. Puck is the freezing sort, so it's not so bad. When it's wind, it turns into storms, and for fire, it becomes hot. What happens with earth?
When it's held in without being let out, it's very hard on the person themselves, so it's necessary to let it out periodically. When you look closely, Puck is glittering; he's cute.
In the case where the effects of the 'magic production period' expanded to cover Irlam village and such, it's possible that it could have caused bad press that would be a real problem for the Royal Selection, so Beako's magic barrier was a exceptionally fine play.
Looking at the mayonnaise bathtub, it's a good scene that helps you understand that Rem is a fairly silly girl.
For the most part, this battle is a battle of image. Having said that, in a real fight, Puck would change to his true form and such, and I think it's a fact that it would have altered the terrain. For an idea of Puck's full power, see "Bonds of Ice".
A snow festival just after the real snow festival in Hokkaido!
There's probably a lot of people that don't know it by this point, but this is a parody of 'Crossing America Ultraquiz'. I watched a whole lot of videos to write this part and the monologue.
At this point in time, Petra was trying to take the snowrabbit home and keep it as a treasure. At this point in time.
The way that 'SNOWRABBIT' was pronounced, it seems like it's paying respects to Hououin Kyouma (lol).
Ah! There's no commercial! I can't go to the toilet!
The one difference between them is that nee-sama is wearing slightly more winter gear than Rem.
Wipe (lol)
The young men's squad leader who distorts Subaru's advice, and the young-again granny who makes herself in her younger days. Such highly artistic villagers.
Looking at it like this, with the regular members from the mansion lined up one after another, isn't there artistic level just too low?
'Breakdown': Emilia: Subaru 5 points, Roswaal 2 points, Muraosa 2 points. Beatrice: Subaru 2 points, Roswaal 4 points, Muraosa 1 point.
One of the items he carried along to the other world, the corn pottage snacks made their way to Petra. What happen to the remaining cup ramen? We don't know yet.
Subaru giving Emilia 5 points was a sort of "It's so great that you were born! 5 points!" thing.
Ram the prodigy was her village's treasure, so she was often called to gatherings of adults, but Ram wanted to return to Rem as soon as she could, so it's the sort of thing where she'd crush most adults in a flash and head home.
For this toast, I like the fact that Beatrice doesn't move her glass.
When Emilia-tan and Rem are sleeping, only Ram and Beako are here, so it's set in stone. (note: not clear on the expression at the end, more literally 'cement response')
Here, you can tell since it's an OVA done after the main story, but when it's broadcast in chronological order, you end up wondering "Who are these guys!?".
Please keep Beatrice and Roswaal from 'Memory Snow' in mind for season two when it starts in April.
Emilia-tan, wearing six changes of clothing during the OVA including her nightgown and normal wear. Blessed sight.
This flower field where Subaru and Emilia went on a date was the key visual for 'Memory Snow'.
It's just too nice a theme song.
It's true for the opening and ending as well, but it seems like Re: Zero, including the OVAs, was abundantly blessed with good theme songs and insert songs. I'm looking forward to the main story next week, too.
There were too few commercials, and the moment they ended Kaguya-sama started! With that, thanks for joining us this week, too! See you next week! Arc three starts next! Ready yourself and wait for it!!

2019.12.31 15:51 vinnybones Brothers vs. Sisters; Gohan & Goten vs. Caulifla & Kale

Hello again, back for another analysis, after many kind words and comments of encouragement, I've decided I will make several further analysis. If they also do well, I might just make a thing of it.
Now, here's another; hopefully one less controversial than my clickbait Bergamo post.
Yes, that's right, we're covering one of the most controversial unit rivalries in the history of dokkan; Who's better between the Brothers uniting to defeat Broly%26_Super_Saiyan_Goten(Kid)), and the Sisters unleashing their latent power to try to bring down Goku?
However, before we get into things, there is something I want to briefly talk about that surprised me yesterday. The amount of individuals who thought that using an item was a quick fix to a unit's problems, and thusly, the unit could instantly be described as good again.
This is a very backwards way of thinking, as the same amount of people who would claim that Bergamo is a great tank turn 1 are probably the same individuals who would say that TEQ Hit can't tank in SBR. But if you'd allow Bergamo a Whis or Icarus in SBR, then surely a Ghost Usher or Yemma for Hit would also make him just as good, if not better, because then he tanks as good as Bergamo ever would while also stunning.
Items are NOT a solution to a unit's problems. As I described yesterday, you should view items as a "Get out of jail free" card, not Flex-seal to patch the leaks in your units. If we thought like this, LR Beerus & Whis would be considered a far better LR because he wouldn't have ki problems; We can just pop two fruit of the tree of mights over the course of a fight and then he has an additional +3ki for six turns.
I wanted to solve this problem here, because one of the main facets I'm going to be talking about during this post is defense, as many people love a card with high defensive merits. As such, I want to put a stop to any conversation where people can ignore the merits of a card and just say "Well (s)he's just as good if you pop a whis!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With that out of the way, let's get right into it.
First, similar to yesterday's post, we're going to lay out the strengths of both cards. And goodness, what strengths they are.
First, let's go over Gohan & Goten. Firstly, they start with a relatively low boost of 58%. This boost, however, is deceptive; This isn't the main reason this card is so feared for it's power. The reality is the rest of the kit surrounding the unit; They always get an additional attack, which has a 25% chance to become a super attack. Now, this is impressive already; Getting an additional super attack is one of the best passive effects in the game. It can double your damage.
However, this is compounded by the fact Gohan & Goten are a stacking unit; With each attack they perform, they gain Ki +1, & ATK&DEF +10%; Up to +5Ki & Up to 100% additional ATK&DEF. Already, you can see how this is an impressively good passive for this card. Every turn, they generate 2ki for themselves, up to the cap of five, as well as 20% ATK. Meaning their next appearance, Their passive has jumped to "+2ki & ATK&DEF +78%" - Which is much, much better. However, this is also deceptive; As their boosts from stacking are multiplicative; Meaning each 10% ATK&DEF stacks on top of the last one, instead of adding to the whole. This means their total effective boost at full strength is a staggering 216%!
However, there's yet one more strength some people miss. This card boosts ATK on SA as well; For one turn, true, but these buffs don't only apply per super attack. They persist throughout the turn; So, for ever super attack this unit performs during a turn, they boost themselves even further. Each super attack gives this unit a 50% increase to their super attack modifier; Meaning, if you manage to get 3 super attacks in one turn, you'll have a staggering additional 150% to super attack damage.
And finally, to top it all off, if you ever find yourself in a situation where the enemy is hitting hard enough, or just not dying fast enough, the bros have yet one more trick up their sleeves. If, somehow, your HP falls below 59%, they have access to an active skill that can utterly obliterate any foes that stand before them; Massively raising their ATK for their ultimate attack, and dealing ultimate damage, the highest damage modifier in the game.
But, there's a contender to the throne of a stacking champion that performs multiple super attacks per turn. And that's Caulifla & Kale.
Caulifla & Kale are just as much of a powerhouse out of the gate as Gohan & Goten; They have a very slightly higher SoT boost at 66%, but gain their benefits far differently than Gohan & Goten do.
Firstly, they don't stack ATK&DEF on attack, but they do stack ki; Up to 6, one more than Gohan & Goten. Instead, they rapidly boost their chance to dodge enemy attacks; Up to 66%. Dodging is easily one of the best defensive utilities in conjunction with high defense; This means at full strength, this unit only receives any damage at all a third of the time.
While they may not stack ATK&DEF on successive attacks, they actually have a way to come into the battle at full fighting strength; For each "Universe 6", "Joined Forces" or "Pure Saiyans", these girls receive an additional ATK+10%. If a unit fits into all three categories, that means they receive a 30% boost immediately! Since they, themselves, fit into all three categories, they roll with a minimum of a 96% boost anywhere they go, with a maximum achievable boost of 276%.
Lastly, and easily the strongest part of this entire passive, is exactly like Gohan & Goten, Caulifla & Kale perform an additional attack every turn without fail. However, in contrast, this attack has no chance whatsoever to be a super attack. Instead, they gain guaranteed super attacks against "Universal Survival Saga" & "Pure Saiyans" enemies. Compounded with the fact they stack their defense by 30% on every single super attack, this means they both have the power to obliterate the battlefield, and take virtually no damage at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, now that we know what they do, we're going to compare them head to head. The first thing on everyone's minds is definitely the sheer raw power both of these units possess; So who comes out on top in the damage department?
Well, fortunately, because nobody likes a stomp, it's REALLY close. However, Gohan & Goten is the winner when it comes to raw output. They have a few advantages here, and let me explain why.
Firstly, one of their main benefits is their potential system; Gohan & Goten are Technique type, which will be abbreviated to 'TEQ' from now on. The TEQ type potential system, along with Strength (STR), gives them an additional +5 bonus to critically striking, which equates to an extra 10%; As each node invested into the potential system gives them 2%. This means that at full strength, Gohan & Goten have a 40% chance to critically strike with each attack they launch.
Critical strikes are equal to 1.9x the strength of a normal attack, with the additional benefit that they completely surpass defense & type advantage. This is HUGE on really difficult content, as most of those enemies will have high defensive stats.
Critical strikes are so potent that a critical strike additional super attack from Gohan & Goten can be almost as strong as their full-powered ultra super attack.
Secondly, they have one other benefit that helps boost their damage by quite a bit; Kale & Caulifla's links are quite unique; They're only shared 1-1, besides legendary power, by a TUR Copy of themselves. This is not the case for Gohan & Goten; Gohan & Goten have two really excellent partners to choose from; Both Physical (PHY) SSJ Gohan (Teen)) & STR SSJ Goten) share almost all of his links, provide him more easy access to ki; Either by giving him Ki & ATK&DEF support, OR, by changing orbs into RBW ki, which allows you to link orbs more easily for a large chain.
This means that having a powerful and capable partner that synergizes with Gohan & Goten well massively boosts their output. Specifically, their output is about 500k higher than Caulifla & Kale's; These units have an average attack per turn of 9.013 million. Caulifla & Kale average about 8.56 million. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, yet another thing that immediately comes to mind is defensive prowess; And in this department, Caulifla & Kale are the undisputed champs. Not only do they have an impressive buffer with their dodge chance to begin with - as previously stated, at full strength for their dodge, they'll only receive an attack one out of three times - But their ability to boost their defense every single super attack gives them an insanely high margin of rapidly increasing defensive utility.
To put it into perspective, Gohan & Goten's average defense is calculated to be in the 150,000 range. This is quite good; Most attacks will do little to no damage to this card with a defense in that margin. However..
Caulifla & Kale manage 239,000 defense in that same timespan, meaning given even more time, this defense will only skyrocket even higher. Compounded with the fact that they rarely even have to take a hit in the first place, this, with no doubt in my mind, makes Caulifla & Kale both the victor against Gohan & Goten defensively, but ALSO as one of the best overall tanks in the entire metagame.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next, let's talk about Versatility. We're going to be looking at categories, linking & utility here; Very important to help determine a unit's value.
Well, unfortunately for Kale & Caulifla, One of their greatest strengths is also one of the their greatest downfalls. Their ability to stack attack with successive copies of themselves as well as their ability to stack attack based on their core three categories make them fairly limited in which categories they truly succeed in.
Any category that allows you to run a team of units that give Caulifla & Kale at least a 20% boost per unit is a good one indeed; But to reach their highest levels of damage, everyone needs to be contributing 30%. This means that Caulifla & Kale's BEST category is the one they lead, Joined Forces, as the leader for Joined Forces is also themselves; Giving them an extra 30% automatically; Nevermind the additional TUR & SSR Caulifla & Kales found on that team.
Gohan & Goten's versatility is extremely impressive, to say the least. They can at least succeed on every single category they're on; Due to the nature that they give themselves their boosts automatically just for attacking. In addition, they have yet another benefit; Their best partners, Goten & Gohan, can almost ALWAYS be found on every single cat they have. The only category this isn't true of is Joined Forces; Otherwise, Both supportive PHY Gohan & STR Goten can find a niche alongside themselves without much effort.
This means that in most circumstances, Kale & Caulifla will link well with many key units across the various teams they're on in the overall metagame, making their application extremely versatile.
Gohan & Goten's links are, on average, quite a bit worse. They have only a single ki link in "Golden Warrior", and it's a pretty pathetic link at that. It's worse than most Ki +1 links, because it has an additional, dated effect; It reduces enemy DEF by 2000. Staggering, I know. This means that it can't stack like other ki links, so if two units share Golden Warrior with Gohan & Goten, they'll still only receive Ki +1.
Fortunately, their partners in PHY Gohan & STR Goten save them from being too dependent on their own passive; During the first turn, you may miss your 18ki super maybe one in six times when you run them with these units. You would do well to remember that this is factored into their damage output as well, meaning, even with this flaw, they still do more damage.
Kale & Caulifla lead the "Joined Forces" category, as well as Super AGL. Again, very, very good combo. These two together have just as much synergy if not more than the Goku's Lineage / Sibling's bond combo. If these leader skills were 170% as Gohan & Goten's were, I would honestly give it to Caulifla & Kale here.
But, unfortunately, Bandai Namco & Akatsuki clapped their hands together deviously when applying this unit's leader skills, as they only lead "Joined Forces" with a 130% lead. Then again, perhaps that was necessary balance, as running two copies of LR Caulilfa & Kale under a 170% leader skill might be the best team in the game by far.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So! Let's figure out just what we've established and come to a conclusion, shall we?
At the end of the day, Gohan & Goten outdamage, are more versatile AND are more useful on more categories than Caulifla & Kale. However, Caulfila & Kale are far, far, far better defensively, and on the categories they are good on, they ramp up much faster than Gohan & Goten.
It's really difficult to call this one in either character's favor, as for every single point of damage Gohan & Goten can deal, Caulifla & Kale tank better by tenfold.
So, when they're so much better defensively, is the 500k~ difference in damage really that severe?
My final answer is no. I think it's a stretch to say that either one of these cards is significantly better than the other. Unless we somehow get a new mode that makes it so that Gohan & Goten's superior damage is overall far more valuable, you'll get what you want from both of these cards.
Gohan & Goten will wipe out just about any character before Caulifla & Kale could, but the sisters will do it without a scratch on them.
Both of these characters are extremely valuable additions to any team you can place them onto, and my final verdict is that, while I personally prefer Gohan & Goten;
Gohan & Goten is the superior card for damage output and overall versatility;
While Caulifla & Kale is the better for defense at all stages & synergizes much better with most units.
Thank you so much for reading my exhaustive analysis, I hope you enjoyed, and if you find anything contrary to one of my opinions, please let me know about it!
Tl;dr - They're both really damn good; Gohan & Goten is better at dealing fat damage but Caulifla & Kale are one of the best defensive units in the entire game

2019.12.04 14:02 istanonemaria XDU Character Song Album 2 - Review

I needed to get the hype out of my system, so I'm doing this.
Gyakkou no Fluegel (Ver. Souyoku no Sirius) -- It sounds so majestic. I am very much a fan of this remix. When I first heard it in the game I thought it was a bit too slow for me, but the full version of it, while still having a slower feel to it than the original, is in no way inferior in my opinion. Both are great in their own ways and manage to share different feelings.
Souyoku no Wing Beat -- ZweiWing at their best. You can hear it's not a concert song but a fight song and the message and feelings in it are clear. Don't get lost in past what-ifs, live for the present. It's a powerful song born from Kanade and Tsubasa having found equal footing with each other again, even if they are not the other's partner. It left me emotional, but in a good way. In a typical Symphogear way.
KNOCK OUT! -- Best Hibiki song to date. It's full of her firm determination, telling the listener that she wants them not to give up, that she believes them to be strong. Not gonna lie, the delivery of the last line, Yuuki Aoi shouting "You are strong!" at you is so powerful. I was on my way to work and I almost started crying.
Daisuki Suki Sugi -- In the middle of many powerful songs, the cheerful Zababa duet is a sweet interlude. It's not my favorite song, but hearing Shirabe and Kirika sing "I love you, Shirabe/Kiri-chan" to each other in the chorus does make me smile everytime.
Eiki -Ewigerbund- -- Time for the burning alchemists to take the stage! And while Shitou -Ewigkeit- was their resolve to use the burning of their lives for liberation, Eiki -Ewigerbund- is their resolve to LIVE. Both are equally powerful sentiments, but Eiki showcases their friendship/familial bond in a way that Shitou only lightly grazes in my opinion.
Akatsuki no Sora -- I was in love with this song when it came out in the game, so I was a bit disappointed when the second half didn't entirely live up to the first one. But it is still a cheerful fight song, and I feel it shows Kirika's maturity really well. If I had to rank it, the game version ranks second while the full version ranks about fourth to fifth.
SONG FOR THE WORLD -- Unpopular opinion incoming! It's a good song but it never spoke to me in the way it apparently did to, like, 95% of the fandom. I guess I can say that Akatsuki no Sora is to me what SONG FOR THE WORLD is for everyone else. I am proud of Yukine's growth but it never fully clicked with me.
Kousou Gungnir -- Gungir Trio, 10/10, great vocals, great music, would channel the sun again. Jokes aside, it is a really great song. Maria and Kanade backing Hibiki in equal measure just fills me with such joy, I can't describe it. This song just makes me happy.
Sakimori no Uta -- Not much to say here, it's a Tsubasa song. There is no bad Tsubasa song. Nana wills it/10.
Gosenfu no Sanctuary -- 👏 CAROL 👏 GOODNESS 👏 I'm always a big fan of Carol's songs since they always have a certain symphonic metal feel to them. Since I couldn't really piece together the lyrics I still don't know what exactly is going on but whatever it is, Minase-san kills it! Defintely worth getting set into checkmate for~
